Palworld Has Sold 7 Million Units on Steam Alone, Is Outselling Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Despite some matchmaking issues at launch, Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is performing well, with peak concurrent players on Steam hitting 155,926. The third-person shooter is also Steam’s top-selling game and PlayStation Studios’ most successful release on the storefront yet.

The juggernauts that are Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 just refuse to stop selling. The former is more than a decade old, while the latter launched nearly six years ago, but as is usually the case, both were, once again, big sellers for Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive during 2023’s final quarter.

A glitch has been found in Palworld that stops a player’s Pal from attacking enemies during battle. Owing to gamers catching and battling monsters, Palworld has drawn comparisons with Nintendo’s Pokemon franchise since it debuted in early access on January 19.

The best-selling game of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy, has sold over 24 million units to date. The news came from Variety, which also outlined the ambitious plan Warner Bros. Discovery has for growth in the gaming space. The company values Harry Potter (the IP behind Hogwarts Legacy), Mortal Kombat (which has sold three million units since its debut last September), DC, and Game of Thrones franchises $1 billion each for their gaming potential, and it plans to capitalize on them all.

However, after it sold over 22 million copies in 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav recently told Variety that it crossed 24 million sales.

It has also surpassed 1.5 million concurrent Steam players, inching ever closer to the second spot on the all-time chart. Counter-Strike 2 managed 1.8 million nine months ago, around the time of its launch, but it's a free-to-play game. Moreover, at this rate, Palworld could very well blaze past it during the next weekend.
