Life By You wants to be one of the most open-ended, customizable life sims, yet despite its broad simulation it’s already looking like it captures the kind of lived-in vibe that The Sims 4 often falls short on, setting the bar for EA’s next project. In a new gameplay demo, general manager Rod Humble shows off how the upcoming project from Cities Skylines 2 and Crusader Kings 3 publisher Paradox Interactive is shaping up.

Paradox Interactive’s The Sims rival, Life By You, has been delayed once again, with the new Early Access release date now set for 4th June 2024.

For years, franchise has dominated the simulation game market, with no true competition to speak of. However, the substantial promise shown by the upcoming release may just be enough to end that reign. Slated to enter early access next spring, the title sports several features that the community has requested for years.

Paradox Interactive’s The Sims rival, Life By You, has been delayed all the way until 5th March 2024, the company has announced, with this added time hoping to make the game a more rounded and refined experience at the very first point at which players can go hands on.

Paradox has confirmed that Life By You and its early access has been pushed back from September of this year to March 2024. 

Paradox Interactive has delayed the Early Access release of Life by You by six months.

The Sims has gone unchallenged in the life simulation genre for a quarter century and the wait for a challenger is about to get a few months longer. Developers Paradox Tectonic have pushed back the early access launch for their human dollhouse rival Life By You to March 5th 2024. Rod Humble, the studio’s general manager and former Sims boss, said the game will be “a more robust experience out the gate” thanks to the six-month delay.

Life By You is a new game in development at Paradox Interactive that aims to out-Sims the Sims: It's an open-world game that uses «real language conversations,» enables players to take direct control of in-game avatars, and will come with a suite of customization tools that will «allow for unparalleled levels of storytelling.» Development is also being headed up by Rod Humble, who prior to becoming general manager at developer Paradox Tectonic was the head of EA's Sims label for several years.

Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Paradox Tectonic have delayed Life by You from its previously planned Early Access release date of September 12, 2023 to March 5, 2024. It will be available for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
