Dino Crisis

Although the last game in the Dino Crisis series came out over two decades ago, fans are desperate to bring it back to life. In an ongoing survey from Capcom, the company asks “Are there any Capcom game series (including spin-off games) that you would like to see get a sequel or new game?” Dino Crisis is at the top of the list of requested revivals, followed closely by Mega Man.

Dino Crisis died a grizzly death in 2003 with the action-packed Xbox-exclusive threequel. In the over 20 years since, fans have been calling for a return to the series and its more horror-oriented roots, and they were only spurred on further when Capcom remade several of its classic Resident Evils. Now, it's one of the company's most heavily requested games.

Capcom has a treasure trove of dormant IP that its fans have been waiting to see get revived for years on end, and very few of them invoke the kind of fervour that Dino Crisis does. A revival of the dinosaur-fueled survival horror series is something that fans have been demanding vocally on a consistent basis, and we recently had another example of that.

Capcom has been hosting a fan survey through Capcom Town that has revealed some of the franchises that fans of the company want to see the most. Capcom has a storied history of releasing high-quality games across a variety of franchises. Capcom constantly has something new and exciting coming out, with the company having just recently launched the critically-acclaimed action-RPG Dragon's Dogma 2.

Just over a year ago, Shinji Mikami - he of directing the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 fame - was confirmed to be leaving Tango Gameworks, the studio that he had co-founded over a decade earlier to create a modern successor to his survival-horror classics, The Evil Within.

Legendary game developer Shinji Mikami – best known as the creator of Resident Evil and The Evil Within – has established a new independent game development studio named KAMUY. Interestingly enough, the studio’s existence has emerged not from an official announcement, but through the official website of the upcoming Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered.

Shinji Mikami has seemingly started his own studio called Kamuy Inc. Mikami left Tango Gameworks back in February 2023, a studio he founded in 2010.

Amid a continuously popular period for the series, it appears that Capcom may be preparing for a possible Resident Evil 5 Remake announcement. While Resident Evil has been beloved for many years, the success of Resident Evil 4 Remake prompted more excitement among fans than ever about what might be in store for the franchise. Now, some of the publisher's latest updates may have offered a glimpse into Capcom's plans.

A new horror FPS called Fossilfuel 2 has strong Dino Crisis vibes, and it has already gained positive reviews soon after its release. Dino Crisis is among the most beloved of Capcom’s forgotten franchises, and its fans will be glad to know that this new indie game could be considered its spiritual successor.

Spotted by our sister-site Nintendo Life, publisher Capcom is currently holding what it's calling "Super Elections", asking fans and players for their feedback relating to its lineup of games and offering eligibility for various prizes (Capcom wood badge set, a key art catalogue, and Capcom Hanafuda) for taking part. It's pretty cute stuff for the most part, but some questions certainly stand out.

Shinji Mikami has signaled his intent to return to the video game industry.

Veteran Resident Evil producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has shared details on the first game being developed at his new studio GPTRACK50.

Dino Crisis 2 turns 23 today and, to celebrate this milestone, the official Capcom Twitter posted a picture of the game. While that might seem innocuous, fans have been demanding a remake for years now. So, unsurprisingly, the comments and quote retweets are flooded with people asking, 'Where Dino Crisis?'

Are you disappointed by the lack of a new Dino Crisis game, twenty years on from Dino Crisis 3? Capcom may have sidestepped the franchise in favour of Exoprimal, but Deathground could deliver the saurian survival horror game that Dino Crisis fans have been craving. The game’s latest trailer, revealed at Gamescom, certainly gives me hope. And it’s got fuzzy Velociraptors too.

Exoprimal’s producer has expressed interest in adding Dino Crisis content to the multiplayer shooter.

Capcom‘s Exoprimal could get Dino Crisis content in the future if there’s enough demand for it, its director has said.
