With the Stardew Valley orchestral tour kicking off in 2024, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone’s highly successful farm-based RPG is still a major talking point in gaming. One can’t help but wonder whether the game will make its way into other aspects of pop culture, but that might be easier said than done.

Dune has had its fair share of adaptation attempts. Denis Villeneuve and David Lynch brought Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel to the big screen in 2021 and 1984, respectively, while Ridley Scott and Alejandro Jodorowsky also made their own efforts that never came to fruition. 

Max Evry, the author of "A Masterpiece in Disarray: David Lynch’s Dune. An Oral History," has found a half-written script for the sequel, he revealed in WIRED on Wednesday.

And after watching a full 40-minute demo, played from the perspective of Wake himself, it certainly looks set to be a tale worth telling. Taking place in an area called The Dark Place, this lengthy slice of the story follows Alan as he makes his way through an oppressive and haunting replica of New York City riddled with danger, gunfights, and puzzles. It’s classic survival horror but with the distinct edge of developer Remedy - smart, engrossing, and consistently odd.

Not officially, mind you; I'm talking about the demo for Twin Peaks: Into the Night, a fan game based on the classic David Lynch and Mark Frost soap opera that's just hit Itch.io.

There is no shortage of games that claim Twin Peaks as a primary inspiration, but the legendary TV multimedia experience is yet to take the leap into a full game adaptation. And it’s not out of a lack of interest in the medium from its creators. Twin Peaks writer and director David Lynch once started to work on a game that would continue the series called Woodcutters From Fiery Ships, and Mark Frost, Twin Peak’s co-writer, met with the creators of Link’s Awakening to give them a few ideas.
