Actor Kyle MacLachlan compares the Fallout show to the work of David Lynch, praising its presentation and world-building.
Speaking with TheGamer ahead of the Fallout show's premiere, MacLachlan also shares that he wasn't familiar with the game series before he accepted the role. Through his research, he says he realised it was a "much bigger deal" than he anticipated, describing the world of Fallout as "very complex, well designed, [and] realistic."
"The most unexpected part of it was the shift in tones, which is not so dissimilar to what David Lynch does," says MacLachlan. "He juxtaposes something that appears to be really delicate and sweet against something very harsh and abrasive.
"That was the case in Fallout because you have these very violent moments, and then you're playing a sweet song over the back of it. Your brain kind of does a disconnect. You're not quite sure which path to follow. I find that intriguing."
MacLachlan continues: "It kind of creates almost a third reality to what you're seeing. You don't really know what it is. It's an amalgam of everything."
MacLachlan has been a longtime collaborator of David Lynch since the director's Dune adaptation in 1984. He is perhaps best remembered as Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks, a role he reprised in the 2017 revival. In Fallout, he plays Hank, the overseer of Vault 33, and the father of one of our main characters, Lucy.
If you think an ultraviolent show that calls out huge corporations is an odd fit for Amazon Prime Video, you're not alone. We also spoke with the Fallout showrunners, who are aware of the "absurdity" of Amazon promoting a Fallout show. However, they added that this was "part of the appeal" for them when they joined the project, and insisted that the essence of the games will still be found in the show.
Fans will be able to decide for themselves when Fallout hits Prime Video this week. It will go live on the streaming service on April 11, with all eight episodes becoming available at once.

Queer cinema has always been in a state of continual evolution, but the evolution of trans depiction has come slower, even during agreed-upon golden eras of queer cinema. But in 2024, we are in the midst of a potentially new movement in which three trans-authored films are reshaping the possibilities of what a trans film looks like, and how transness can be expressed in cinema.

The Fallout TV show is stim-packed full of easter eggs and treats for fans of the games. From obvious crowd-pleasers like the Brotherhood of Steel’s T60 armour and the New Vegas skyline to smaller blink-and-you-’ll-miss-it glimpses of Radaway and Fancy Lads Snack Cakes, there was plenty plucked from the long-running RPG series to get excited about. Bethesda has crafted such dense and plentiful worlds, though, that there's still a plethora of characters, creatures, quests, and locations left to be brought to life in the Prime Video series. So here are 14 things we’d love to see from the games in Fallout season 2.
The first episode of Fallout, the new streaming series on Amazon, felt a lot like the beginning of Fallout 3 for me — and not in the good way. Swapping out Liam Neeson for Kyle MacLachlan felt like a downgrade going in, but that’s probably because I’m just not a fan of his “subtle dread and kind smile” schtick. Just as in Bethesda’s 2008 sequel, life inside the Vault felt pretty bland, but things really started to open up for me in episode 2, when we finally arrived in the Wasteland.
Call of Duty League has announced major changes to the way they deal with their esports teams.

Pixar’s Inside Out left a twofold legacy in the animation world. Some people think of it as a poignant movie about the necessity of sadness that turned abstract psychological theories into whimsical set-pieces and a resonant storyline. But a certain subsection of the internet decided that Riley’s dad (voiced by Kyle MacLachlan) is actually a hot daddy.
The Prime Video adaptation of has been a massive hit among fans, and its two creators are already teasing the possibility of a second season.
