Darkest Dungeon 2 is adding a new Kingdoms mode to the game. The turn-based roguelike game released in early access in 2021 with a full release in 2023. Reviews noted that Darkest Dungeon 2 featured a strategic and difficult but ultimately satisfying gameplay loop. In addition, Darkest Dungeon 2 received praise for having stylish visuals, blending 3D and 2D into a brutal, gothic, fantasy aesthetic.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS DLC can no longer be re-downloaded, following the system's eShop closure. Layoffs are sweeping the gaming industry and Ubisoft has announced more. Nearly 10,000 people were laid off last year as the industry started to shift in a different direction. Many companies are looking towards live service games to make the money necessary to survive and Ubisoft has been a part of this trend. Its Skull and Bones was released in February, and continues to capitalize on the live service concept. Regardless, it seems preventing layoffs was not possible.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is adding mouse and keyboard support. People with access to a compatible device and a decent internet connection are able to enjoy Xbox Cloud Gaming as long as they have a Game Pass Ultimate membership. Gamers are able to use the service on modern phones and some smart TVs as well.

Palia is now available on Steam, giving gamers a new cozy game to check out. There has been a recent influx of cozy games, becoming seemingly more popular in the current generation than any other. This newer addition, Palia, has been accessible elsewhere in the form of an open beta for some time. Striking Distance Studios has revealed Project Birdseye, a roguelike spin-off of The Callisto Protocol universe. In 2022, Striking Distance Studios released The Callisto Protocol, a survival horror game. The game is set in space and centered around a man fighting through the breakout of an illness on a starship, which, in premise and tone, bore stark resemblances to Dead Space. These similarities caught the attention of fans, who were excited to see the project led by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield.

Pokemon fans are excited that Pokemon Legends Z-A is coming, and in anticipation of the game, one fan has designed a 200% Forme for Zygarde. Tales Of Kenzera: Zau is an upcoming Metroidvania game that integrates the aesthetics of Afrofuturism and the culture surrounding Bantu mythology. The game aims to utilize the challenges posed by the Metroidvania format to explore themes of grief. Published by EA, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is expected to release on April 23 on PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. In December 2023 at The Game Awards, Abubakar Salim, who gamers may recognize for voicing Bayek in Assassin's Creed: Origins, unveiled that this game is being made by his company, Surgent Studios.

Perhaps the most shocking was the fact that these layoffs had hit the biggest companies, such as Hasbro, EA, Microsoft, and more. It seemed like that was the worst it would get, and many looked to 2024 with hope for the future.

Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown looks promising, but it comes with a downside that may turn away interested players, and that's an always-online requirement. Solar Crown is anupcoming racing game with a focus on its multiplayer sandbox.
