In an X (formerly Twitter) post by aitaikimochi (via )it is shown that Cloud's words in the emotional scene at the Forgotten Capital are what he says in the original game. Cloud says "" which cannot be heard because of the flashbacks and headaches he has been experiencing.
The line remained a mystery until writer Kazushige Nojima confirmed Clouds words, which was backed up by co-director Motomu Toriyama. They don't explain what those words mean and this is because Toriyama wants to leave the ending up for the players' interpretation, still wanting players to feel a powerful response to Aerith's death.
This quote might not be a surprise to those who played the original game, but many players in the replies to aitaikimochi's post shared the same sentiment. A majority of the comments believed that adding these flashbacks in made the scene feel a bit less emotional than Aerith's death in the original. This is attributed to a number of different things, but mostly to the confusion the players felt because of Cloud's lines being cut. The comments noted people didn't connect with the death as strongly because they were too busy trying to figure out what exactly was going on.
Of course, those who knew the original sequence and the final boss fight with Sephiroth knew exactly what Cloud had said, but new players noted they were taken out of the emotion because of it. Having the confirmation from the writer and co-director will hopefully ease a lot of the confusion players had. It may even encourage them to revisit that scene and experience the emotion now that they have a better idea of what's happening.
Regardless of how some players felt, the voice actors were moved by this scene, and Cloud's voice actor, Cody Christian, recorded it in one take because he felt so strongly about it. The scene is also most likely a powerful and sad experience for players who are new to the franchise and the characters, since they've never experienced it before. With the sequel to and the final remake of the series on the way, fans will be able to move forward now that they officially know what Cloud said.

Navigating the world of isn't that tricky as a whole, but one element that's easy to get tripped up on is the game's approach to relationships. makes a major departure from both the original and by making relationship progress with party members a central part of the game, with the ultimate payoff lying in a number of potential dates at the Gold Saucer. Although the basic thrust of the system is clear enough, some key aspects aren't actually revealed until after the credits roll.
has a lot of memorable characters, from the main party members to NPCs on the sidelines. Not every person who appears in the game is necessarily a winner – any charm points that Chadley might have are hard to appreciate when he won’t stop popping up on screen – but it’s hard to call any significant figure bland. The problem of overuse isn’t exclusive to Chadley, however, and even more engaging characters do sometimes wear out their welcome by the time the credits roll.
