There’s a strong chance you’re familiar with the Asphalt series: the Gameloft racer is a mainstay in any modern arcade, and is extremely popular on smartphones. Now an updated version of the free-to-play franchise is skidding on to PS5 and PS4, in the form of Asphalt Legends Unite. You can look forward to downloading it on 17th July.

The beloved survival game Don’t Starveis being adapted into a board game. Glass Cannon Unplugged, a studio known for creating tabletop renditions of other series like Frostpunk and Diablo, will lead creation of Don’t Starve: The Board Game in partnership with the original video game developer, Klei Entertainment. The game is set to launch via a Kickstarter campaign “near the end of the 3rd quarter in 2024,” a release said.

It seems as though the PlayStation 1 game Star Wars: Rebel Assault 2 — The Hidden Empire is coming to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus in April 2024. PlayStation Plus subscribers were recently treated to the reveal of the free PS Plus games for April 2024, but it will be a couple of weeks before the Extra and Premium game additions are revealed.

Asymmetrical multiplayer action game Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is set to hit PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on June 4. As it's playable at PAX East this weekend, IllFonic was kind enough to send over a look at and brief description of some of the weapons and tricks for the Klowns. Note that the tricks unlock over time during a match.

Slightly later than usual, the Last Chance to Play section of PS Plus has updated with the list of PS5, PS4 games that will be removed from the service next month. Compared to those that departed earlier this week, we've got a longer list this time but the titles aren't quite as important. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been revealed as the official title of the superhero game Uncharted creator Amy Hennig is making at Skydance New Media. It's slated to release next year, and stars Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. A trailer was revealed during a GDC livestream, which you can catch above.

The first Rise of the Ronin review score has been posted online, with Japanese outlet Famitsu awarding the soon-to-be-released PS5 game a total of 37/40 across four reviewers. Individually, the scores break down as three 9/10 scores and a 10/10. Our full PS5 verdict will be posted on Thursday, as the review embargo lifts.

Is that Ellie from The Last of Us we see in this trailer for mobile zombie shooter Doomsday: Last Survivors? No, on closer inspection, this is a character called Peggy – who’s basically Ellie. In fact, pretty much all of the game’s characters look agonisingly similar to someone more popular; Cynthia Calamity is effectively Jill Valentine from Resident Evil and Catherine Calamity looks a lot like Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw.

One of the big stories this year so far has been Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s relative underperformance in its home territory of Japan. Historically one of the region’s most popular franchises, the Square Enix sequel couldn’t even outsell fellow PS5 console exclusive Final Fantasy 16 in its first week on the market – a surprise considering its strong critical reception.
