Ed Boon has mentioned a pink ninja called Floyd twice in the past four years when asked if he would ever make a new palette swap character. He emphasised that he wasn't kidding when discussing the concept, which sparked rumours and theories that we'd finally see this new pink ninja in Mortal Kombat 1. While they're not in the base game, there's evidence of them possibly appearing in DLC or as part of Invasions' seasonal stories.
Dataminer TheThiny uncovered strings of text in the files referencing a character called "Floyd", clearly based on Boon's concept. He said, "MK1 tracks how many times you've defeated Floyd in Chapter 15. However, after digging more, I'm starting to believe that Floyd will be introduced at a later time, since currently he has no model, but exists in Johnny's Mansion during Halloween season.

"Context: the four female ninja clones in Chapter 15 use the moveset of a character called Floyd. However, defeating them does not increase the tracker of defeating Floyd, so I'm tempted to believe Floyd will be its own entity."
Spoilers for Mortal Kombat 1's story.
It wouldn't be the first time a new character has been added to the series via DLC - Skarlet debuted in MK9's post-launch content. Floyd could see a similar beginning, especially since he has his own tracker and moveset, pointing to him being more than just a cameo or throwaway Invasions boss fight.
One theory fans have put forward is that DLC fighters, at least the Mortal Kombat-themed ones, will appear on the steps of the final multiversal battle in which you duke it out with alternate versions of existing characters, like Kano Sonya or female Scorpion.
If this theory ends up being right, it would explain why there's a Floyd tracker as his addition to the game would mean alternate versions of him trying to stop us from reaching Quan-Chi and Shang Tsung.
There's always the possibility that Floyd is just an in-joke included in the files and that it doesn't actually mean anything, but given Boon's push for a new pink ninja, there's certainly weight to all of the speculation.
Maybe he'll slip his very obvious Pink Floyd reference into Mortal Kombat yet, or maybe we're looking too deeply into what is a joke between NetherRealm developers.
