As we come to the end of another cold and grey week, I’m heading into London to see what’s what at WASD. Before getting to that, though, I’ve had a few different games on the go this past week, with the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in my Switch and the puzzle-sniper action of Children of the Sun on my PC. I did also squeeze in one solitary mission in Helldivers 2 – every little bit helps when spreading Managed Democracy!

One of the biggest draws of Vecna: Eve of Ruin, the final campaign in the decade-long run of 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons, is the fact that you can play as a high-level character. Most D&D campaigns end around level 10. Eve of Ruin starts there, and then proceeds to go up to level 20, the game’s cap. That means players will begin the story with extremely powerful, potentially game-breaking spells and abilities. So how did the designers at Wizards of the Coast manage to keep characters in line, preventing them from blowing up the entire narrative from the jump? The answer is very, very carefully.

When first I learned of Born Of Bread, it was getting towards lunchtime - yes, 10.30am absolutely counts as "getting toward lunchtime" - and my brain was immediately filled with savoursome thoughts of simulated baking. Remnant 2 allows players to craft whatever type of build they can imagine. Trait Points can be assigned all over the place to help boost certain aspects of a character, but that doesn’t mean they’re all viable against bosses. Now though, players have started to complain about this design choice because they feel it hinders them.

The Postulant’s Parlor in Remnant 2 is a unique area you can explore when you arrive to Lomosn. It’s one of the more beautiful locations for you to check out, but it’s still full of dangers and mysteries. A challenging aspect to overcome is the fact that many of the doors in this region are closed, and there doesn’t appear to be a way to unlock them.
