A recent teaser for LEGO Fortnite's upcoming collaboration with the mega-popular Star Wars franchise is suggesting that lightsabers are coming to the game. Launched as a spinoff of the beloved battle royale, the game takes a markedly different approach from its predecessor, shifting into an open-world survival crafting game. LEGO Fortnite takes notes from Minecraft's success, with players able to build their in-game homes, fight against hostile creatures, and team up with friends to traverse the LEGO landscapes. Now, an upcoming crossover is bringing a major new item to the game.
The Star Wars franchise has been a popular collaboration for Fortnite, with the sci-fi franchise featuring yearly returns to the battle royale with new content. Fortnite has previously introduced several in-game skins based on some of the franchise's most well-known characters, including Luke Skywalker and Han Solo among others. The battle royale also typically adds new gameplay elements as part of the crossovers, like Force Powers and lightsabers for players to wield in-game. Now, Fortnite's next crossover with Star Wars is introducing a fan-favorite element of the franchise to LEGO Fortnite.
A recent post by popular Fortnite Twitter user HYPEX showcases a new teaser from LEGO Fortnite for the upcoming Star Wars crossover. Within the teaser image, a character is shown wielding a blue lightsaber, suggesting that the iconic Star Wars weapon will be introduced to LEGO Fortnite with the update. LEGO Fortnite has already added multiple pre-existing Star Wars skins in Fortnite to the game, with Luke, Han Solo, and Princess Leia made available. Recent teasers have also suggested that Chewbacca could also be introduced to LEGO Fortnite in the upcoming event.
Fortnite's most recent Star Wars teaser comes as Epic Games has already hinted at plenty of new content coming with Fortnite's «May the Fourth» event. Rhythm game spinoff Fortnite Festival teased the addition of the Cantina Band song as a jam track, serving as one of the franchise's most memorable pieces of music. The main game has also seen teasers about new lightsabers and force abilities coming with the Star Wars event. Fortnite's May the Fourth event is currently expected to launch on May 3.
