Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of 2023’s biggest success stories – far bigger than most would have expected it to be – and the RPG’s widespread success has, of course, gone hand-in-hand with a significant explosion of popularity for developer Larian Studios. Expectations will be high from whatever the developer’s next game is, and Larian itself certainly seems determined to keep pushing the envelope with whatever it works on.
That’s as per Swen Vincke, director of Baldur’s Gate 3 and CEO of Larian Studios, who recently took to social media platform X to touch on the acclaimed RPG receiving eight nominations at the upcoming The Game Awards – the most for any game, alongside Alan Wake 2 – including for the Game of the Year category. In his tweet, Vincke also briefly touched on the studio’s ambitions for the future, writing that though he can’t say much about Larian’s next big game, Baldur’s Gate 3’s success serves as encouragement for the studio to ensure that it keeps pushing “many boundaries”.
“This is a real honor, especially in a year with so many releases. Seeing our little ‘niche RPG’ make such waves is very motivating,” Vincke wrote. “I wish I could tell you about our next big game but this is really encouraging us to ensure it pushes many boundaries. I’m very excited about it.”
Given that Baldur’s Gate 3 only just launched a few months ago, it’s fair to assume that it’s going to be a while before we find out what Larian Studios’ next game is going to be. The developer has previously expressed in working on something smaller for its next project, and that Divinity: Original Sin 3 is something that we’re probably going to see at some point.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC and PS5, and is also in development for Xbox Series X/S, with a release date likely to be announced this week.

Baldur's Gate 3 developers are talking up patch 5 as possibly one of the most important post-launch updates for the RPG.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s fifth major post-launch patch is set to launch sometime before the end of the week, and based on everything that developer Larian Studios has said about it so far, it looks like it’s going to be quite a significant update. And while full details on what it will bring to the acclaimed RPG aren’t available just yet, Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse has confirmed that performance improvements will be included.
is based on, but reaching the maximum level of 20 isn't possible in this video game version of the beloved tabletop RPG. The level cap is significantly reduced to level 12, which is higher than it was in the early access version of the game but doesn't hold up against 's standard. However, players shouldn't hold onto hope that developer Larian Studios will be increasing the level cap further anytime soon through expansions or DLC.
It appears the next Subnautica game is diving deep sometime in early 2025. It’s been roughly two years since fans dove into the chilly waters of the series, and it feels like it’s nearly time to strap back into that diving suit once more. And then get eaten by a Reaper Leviathan.
Larian says you don't have to worry about the Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe Edition selling out, and as such suggests you avoid scalpers trying to sell it at a higher price than retail.
Baldur’s Gate 3 absolutely swept through this year’s Golden Joystick Awards with a record-breaking seven wins in categories such as Best Storytelling, Best Studio, and the Ultimate Game of the Year. But Larian Studios’ CEO wasn’t expecting quite so much trophy love, despite the game’s mammoth success.
Following days of speculation, Larian Studios has just confirmed on Twitter (X) that the Xbox Series S|X launch of Baldur's Gate 3 is on track to happen at some point in December. The release date will be announced at Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards event, which takes place on Thursday 7th.
Karlach's actor in Baldur's Gate 3 has been really getting into her character's romance with Minthara.
Larian's king wizard (CEO) Swen Vincke is very eager to tell you about the studio's next game after Baldur's Gate 3. And also, a bit terrified, because after all, the response to Larian's D&D adaptation has been rather rhapsodic. How on Earth do you replicate that level of success? The answer may lie in scripture.
Larian Studios is set to make a big announcement for Baldur’s Gate 3 later this week.
Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has teased ambitious plans for its follow-up to Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur's Gate 3 game director Swen Vincke has been basking in the shower of awards and nominations enjoyed by the cRPG.
