It’s the Year of the Big Game, and that’s a good thing

Bluey immediately made an impact on the child’s TV scene in 2018, and the world of kids’ programming has never been quite the same. Showrunner Joe Brumm created the show as a result of being tired of poor-quality kids shows flooding the market, and that ethos has served Bluey well. Throughout its three seasons (consisting of over 150 episodes) it’s managed to knock its myriad storylines out of the park, and on occasion, make droves of people cry. I’m skeptical that the upcoming game project will have the same effect on folks, but a dad can dream.

Gareth Edwards' new sci-fi blockbuster The Creator has been impressing early viewers as the first reactions have begun trickling in. 

Finnish team Remedy has revealed its upcoming PS5 survival horror game Alan Wake 2 will be its longest yet, clocking in at more than 20 hours. Creative director Sam Lake shared the respective playtime in the latest episode of the Kinda Funny Games Daily show, revealing the studio has wanted to makes its games longer for some time. «So Control was our longest game to date, and Alan Wake 2 is going to be longer than that — 20 hours plus,» he said.

This chip marks the first time Apple is calling it "Pro," and they're really excited about it as it is the industry's first chip made on a 3-nanometer fabrication process. During the iPhone 15 announcement, Apple focused a lot on the gaming abilities of the new A17 Pro chip.

After making several memorable appearances in The Wheel of Time season 2’s first four installments, the Prime Video series’ Seanchan invaders finally take center stage in episode 5, “Damane.” They make the most of it, too, showing off everything from their culture and politics to their fashion over the course of the episode’s hour run time. What’s more, “Damane” also hammers home what Wheel of Time’s second season has already made abundantly clear: The Seanchan are a major threat, and one whose motivations hit closer to home than your standard fantasy army with world conquest in its sights.

Every time we see Alan Wake 2 we’re blown away, and this 11 minute demo published by IGN is no exception. Unlike the Gamescom footage, this sequence focuses on second playable protagonist Saga Anderson, and showcases some of her FBI detective skills, as well as general exploration and combat. The atmosphere and overall sense of style is seriously impressive.

In late 2001, the dot-com crash struck ZeniMax, and a team of thirty-some developers in the company’s basement feared for their jobs. They were late delivering their new role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, to Microsoft; their board of directors had begun having doubts about the whole videogame enterprise. People were pulling seven-day workweeks on something none of them were sure would ever see the light of day. Morale was in the toilet.

Microsoft announced that the Xbox Digital Broadcast is returning for Tokyo Game Show 2023 after last year's debut. The Xbox Digital Broadcast is set to air on Tokyo Game Show’s official YouTube channel and select Xbox social channels in Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Malay, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, French, German, and Castilian Spanish starting September 21st at 6 PM JST / 9 AM UTC / 2 AM PDT. The broadcast will also be available with Japanese Sign Language (JSL), Australian Sign Language (AusLan), and audio descriptions in both Japanese and English.
