Nixxes and Guerrilla Games have deployed Horizon Forbidden West PC Patch 1.2.48.0, which contains bugfixes, optimizations, and stability improvements.
After last week's 1.1 update, we now have another patch for the PC version. Unfortunately for AMD users, there's no mention of AMD FSR 3 support (which Nixxes confirmed to be working on last week). Today's update addresses visual corruption for those using AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPUs. In addition, it offers optimizations to address stutter that could occur on certain locations within the game. Also, this update fixes an issue that could cause the Level and XP bar to be displayed incorrectly. In addition, the patch offers various User Interface bug fixes.
"Today's update for Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition further improves stability and contains bugfixes and optimizations based on player feedback", Nixxes writes. "This patch addresses stutters that could occur on specific locations and resolves visual corruption on the map that could occur on AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards."
The full release notes for this update can be found here.
Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn and is available worldwide now for PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Here's what we wrote about the sequel in our 2022 launch review of the PlayStation 5 version:
"The traversal options are also much improved in Horizon Forbidden West. You can grapple to certain predetermined points (even in combat, which is extremely handy to escape the grasp of a rampaging Ravager), and you can also use a Shieldwing to glide down from the higher ground.
However, the real gamechanger is only unlocked towards the end of the main quest: flying. That's right; you'll be able to override Sunwing machines and summon them to fly all around the world, which is incredibly cool in and of itself. You won't do any combat while flying (despite there being a barrel roll move), which might be a tad disappointing to some, but rest assured that just experiencing this stunning post-apocalyptic world while airborne is an awesome feeling. I do wish this would have been unlocked earlier, though."

A new update patch has just been released for the PC version of Horizon Forbidden West that corrects some problems players have been having with the Nvidia Reflex On+Boost feature, among other things. The second Horizon game launched on PlayStation consoles back in 2022, earning mainly positive reviews for its stunning visuals and impressive vocal performances, even if some found the story to be lacking. Last month, Horizon Forbidden West became one of the latest Sony-published titles to make the jump to PC courtesy of Nixxes Software, the developer behind ports like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut.
Nestled within a seemingly ho-hum patch for Horizon Forbidden West’s PC edition is a change I’ve been crossing fingers and ritualistically sacrificing metal dinosaurs for since release. At last I can behold those glorious words: "Resolved performance regression when enabling Nvidia Reflex On+Boost." Finally!

Horizon Forbidden West is one of the best-looking games on consoles, period – a statement that now extends to PC thanks to this port from Nixxes, the Sony-owned studio responsible for the recent PC ports of PlayStation games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. While this is a cross-generation game, the PS5 is where it pushes the fidelity needle most, so that’s what we’ll be using for the main console comparison. Compared to the PS5, this PC port loses none of the quality and, depending on the machine, can even exceed it. It also comes with one big and welcome improvement – Nixxes has added real-time render options via a transparent menu, a genius touch that aids PC market’s desire to fiddle, offering immediate and, most importantly, visual changes to the games rendering.
Insomniac Games has deployed Spider-Man 2 Patch 1.002.003 for PlayStation 5, offering fixes for various encountered issues within the game.
Horizon Forbidden West AMD FSR 3.1 support is coming, but porting studio Nixxes has said that it's "sort of" waiting on AMD.
has mountable machines that weren't available in, a selection also expanded by its DLC. Machines offer one of the most novel elements of the series, blending nature and technology into animal-like creations. All machines encountered in the wild will attack Aloy if given the chance, but many can be overridden and made to fight on her side. Even better are the ones that Aloy can ride after overriding, allowing her to better traverse the map with advancements in speed or even flight.
