Nintendo has rolled out Nintendo Switch update 18.0.1, which fixes an annoying Wi-Fi connection issue that has been plaguing players.
Unlike most Switch firmware updates, this new system update doesn't only improve the system's stability (yeah, the Switch is as stable as the PS4 was at some point during its lifespan), but it also addresses an issue with some wireless access points. The issue caused some wireless access points to not be visible for the Switch when trying to set up a wireless connection. Some players have managed to circumvent this issue by manually entering the SSID name, but this official fix should make it easier to set up a Wi-Fi connection for those affected.

Released globally back in 2017, Nintendo managed to sell close to 140 million units of its platform as of December 31, 2023. It will be interesting to see how sales for the platform have evolved over the past few months, but it's clear that the Switch is on track to outsell the lifetime sales of the PlayStation 2 - the best-selling console of all-time with over 155 million sold units. Meanwhile, recent rumors and reports suggest that Nintendo is planning to release a Switch successor - currently dubbed the Nintendo Switch 2 - sometime next year. The docked performance of this platform is said to be comparable to that of the PlayStation 4 Pro. In addition, as reported some days ago, the Switch successor might very well use a fifth-generation Samsung V-NAND with up to 1.4 GB/S read speed.
Nintendo has to officially announce the existence of its new platform, but with the Switch now being on the market for seven years, it's likely that a Switch 2 will soon be officially announced.

It’s always an exciting week when the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time surprise releases on a Monday. That’s what happened on May 6 when Hades 2 surprise launched into early access.
