Nintendo Switch Successor Will be Revealed by March 31st, 2025

The Nintendo Switch is now the most successful platform in history in terms of Pokemon games sold, overtaking the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance.

The franchise has had numerous titles appear on the Nintendo Switch, many of which are among the best-selling games the console has had in its seven-plus years of life. However, new information has revealed that the Switch's lifecycle has been the best period of the series, as it has eclipsed all past generations by large margins, even ahead of Gen 10 and future games' releases.

The 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM the Nintendo Switch 2 is rumored to feature could deliver better texture quality than the Xbox Series S, and address many of the visual quality issues of the current Nintendo consoles.

According to well-known leaker Midori, Nintendo has been calling its new console the 'Switch 2' and 'New Switch' behind closed doors, but it might not be the actual name when it's finally unveiled to the public (outside of a random tweet on a Tuesday, that is).

There are rumors that the Switch 2 will be unveiled this Fall and release in March of 2025, but nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo themselves.

The current iteration of the ever-popular console is notorious for its less-than-desirable specs; even when it launched in 2017, it's power was significantly less than competitors like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the so-called Switch 2 likely won't rival Sony and Microsoft's machines in terms of performance, it sounds like it will at least be a major step up for Nintendo.

The Nintendo Switch has been shattering sales records left and right since it first launched back in 2017, surpassing the Nintendo DS as the best-selling system in Japan and outselling other landmark Nintendo platforms like the original Game Boy and the Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo has dropped a major hint about what the Switch 2 will look like, suggesting that its next console will retain the hybrid form factor of its predecessor. This bit of insight into the much-anticipated device emerged from Nintendo's latest earnings call.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released sometime in March 2025, and the first reveal of the highly anticipated system will be coming this Fall.
