Gfk has revealed its UK physical sales charts for the week ending January 6th, and Avalanche Software’s Hogwarts Legacy is on top. As reported by GamesIndustry, the action RPG saw an increase in sales of the PS5 version, though sales dropped overall by 46 percent.
EA Sports FC 24 is in second place, with sales increasing by 9 percent. It overtook Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which fell to third place. Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 11 benefited from PS5 promotions to go from eighth to fourth. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is in fifth place as sales dropped by 50 percent week-over-week.
The rest of the top ten is typical, with titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, Nintendo Switch Sports and Minecraft (Switch version) holding on. It remains to be seen if any upcoming new titles, including Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Tekken 8, will shake things up. Stay tuned in the meantime.

Hogwarts Legacy has now sold 24 million copies since its release in February last year, publisher Warner Bros. has said.
The best-selling game of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy, has sold over 24 million units to date. The news came from Variety, which also outlined the ambitious plan Warner Bros. Discovery has for growth in the gaming space. The company values Harry Potter (the IP behind Hogwarts Legacy), Mortal Kombat (which has sold three million units since its debut last September), DC, and Game of Thrones franchises $1 billion each for their gaming potential, and it plans to capitalize on them all.
