UK Charts: Tekken 8 ‘doubles’ Street Fighter 6’s physical launch

It might not seem like it, but Tekken 8 has been out for a few weeks now, and gamers have been talking about it and showing it off ever since its arrival. You’ve likely seen memes of the various characters in numerous outfits to “imitate” certain classic characters from other franchises. It’s all rather hilarious. But they are also talking about the game in the gameplay/graphics sense, too, as the title has impressed pretty much everyone who has played it so much so that they are comparing it to the other fighting games from Capcom and Nether Realm Studios from 2023 to debate which was the best fighting game of the set.

Capcom has released a new trailer for the newest upcoming addition to the Street Fighter 6 roster, Ed. The trailer acts as a guide for the upcoming character, explaining to players how his various moves, attacks, and specials work, and how they can be used together.

Capcom recently teased Ed, the penultimate character release of Street Fighter 6’s Year 1 Character Pass, with a trailer featuring cutscenes from Ed’s World Tour section. The trailer gave us hints at how Ed would translate over from Street Fighter 5 to 6, but this latest trailer released by Capcom gives players the full rundown.

The main games lineup for Evo 2024 has been revealed, and to the surprise of no one, Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 are the headline acts. Those heavy hitters will be joined by Guilty Gear Strive, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:Celes], Mortal Kombat 1, King of Fighters XV, and Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike (the latter being Evo's 'retro' pick for 2024).

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been quite divisive thus far, with lots of discussion online about the pros and cons of this anti-hero looter shooter. However, it appears to be doing just fine when it comes to sales; in the UK, the game has arrived at number one on the physical retail chart, selling over 80 per cent of those copies on PS5.

If you’ve had your head turned by the excellent Tekken 8 recently, then allow Street Fighter 6 to turn it back. This full gameplay trailer for upcoming DLC addition Ed goes hard, showcasing his psycho power-imbued boxing beatdowns.

Fighting games may well be going through their best period in gaming history. Between Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8, and so many other great games released in the last year alone, there has never been so many top-tier options. Street Fighter 6‘s third DLC character, Ed, will be released on February 27, Capcom has confirmed.

Fans have been patiently waiting for more information about the next DLC fighter for Street Fighter 6. We know it would be the mysterious boxer known as Ed, but aside from that, we didn’t have much. Thankfully, Capcom has pulled back the current on the upcoming arrival and announced that he’ll arrive on February 27th! So you only have to wait a few more months to get in the ring with him. But once you square off with him, you better watch out for his fists, as they’re quite deadly. We can see this via the new trailer, and he will be an interesting character to see used by veteran players.
