Satirical sci-fi shooter sequel Helldivers 2 has got off to a flying start, and now its creator Arrowhead Game Studios has put out a call for fresh development talent so it can «accelerate and beef up» the game's content plans.
Despite some early technical woes, which Arrowhead has been hard at work trying resolve since Friday's launch on PS5 and PC, Helldiver 2 has enjoyed a positive critical reception and strong player numbers, even becoming PlayStation Studios' biggest Steam launch so far as it amassed over 150,000 concurrents this weekend.
Amid that early success, Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt has taken to social media on a recruitment drive, seeking out «more amazing developers» who can «help [the studio] accelerate and beef up our content plans».

Currently, Arrowhead is focused on providing fixes for Helldivers 2's initial technical issues — with logins, server capacity, progression, and rewards all receiving attention in patches earlier this week — and the studio is yet to detail its future content plans. However, the developer addressed the status of its roadmap on the game' official Discord, saying, «It's coming».
The good news is Helldivers 2 is already a «wonderfully slapstick co-op experience», as Eurogamer contributor Emma Kent put it in her four out of five review. «Unexpected and memorable events seem to occur in nearly every battle,» she wrote, «and I already have a stock of ludicrous stories from my first week with the game.»

Arrowhead Studios previously announced that the team is working on a balance patch for co-op shooter Helldivers 2, but doing so has proven to be trickier than expected since weapons with higher kill rates don't always lead to successful missions.
Addressing the Helldivers 2 meta while leaning into the game's winking fascist veneer, CEO Johan Pilestedt of developer Arrowhead Game Studios advised veterans to treat new players kindly by showering them in heavy armaments, not fascism.
As players fight tooth and nail to reclaim planets overrun by Terminids and Automatons, developer Arrowhead reveals that the intergalactic war is managed by only a single person. While the core loop involves running around alien planets and gunning down various enemies, there's a much larger scale meta-game at play that sees the community fighting to take control of several endangered planets. Given that opposing factions seemingly respond to player-led pushes, many assumed it was simply an automatic difficulty setting to make the experience more challenging.
Today I learned there is a Dungeons and Dragons-like Game Master (GM) working behind the scenes on Helldivers 2.
It’s fair to say that not even in their wildest dreams, Sony or developer Arrowhead Game Studios could have anticipated that Helldivers 2 would have enjoyed the level of success that it has. In spite of server issues and persistent connectivity problems that have only just now started easing up, the co-op shooter has attracted a sizeable playerbase.
With Helldivers 2's severs holding firm, developer Arrowhead Game Studios is ready to return to its "original plan" for the shooter.
With Helldivers 2 turned out to be a far bigger success than anyone could have anticipated, Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios have been working on addressing the many technical and server-related issues the game has faced since release due to overcrowded servers, but it seems things on that front are beginning to come under control.
After the previous concurrent player capacity was raised for the busy weekend, Helldivers 2 servers are once again getting buffed to support players buying the game in droves.
Playing is going to get much easier with a new update added by Arrowhead Game Studios. The third-person shooter has been a success since its release earlier in February, mostly due to its cooperative, challenging, and occasionally chaotic multiplayer. Given the game’s popularity, however, there have been some issues and errors with , especially when it comes to logging in and waiting in line. The major problems concerning those, however, are starting to be addressed, which should make players’ access to the title a whole lot easier.
After some pretty hefty wait times and server issues, Helldivers 2 CEO Johan Pilestedt finally confirms that concurrent player counts have been increased.
has been largely praised since its launch, with the sequel to the 2015 co-op shooter also attracting far more players than its predecessor. However, there is still one key area that's holding the game back as a whole, and it's partly caused by this unexpected popularity.
