Half a year before Palworld topped 2 million concurrent players on Steam alone, one of its developers thought over 50,000 players was "unobtainable"

Having turned 20 last year and being a dominant force in digital PC gaming, it’s hard to imagine Steam got off to a rocky start when it launched in 2003. However, here we are, and the Valve service continues to reign supreme, as it reaches another concurrent player milestone.

Valve's Steam digital platform continues to grow in popularity. Just a couple of months ago, we reported that the store had set a new record with 33.6 million concurrent users.

Steam has been at the center of the PC gaming scene for pretty much as long as it has been around, and though competitors have certainly emerged over the years, Steam’s own position has only grown stronger as time has gone on. That continues to be the case even now, with the platform having set another record for itself.

After finding an immense amount of success on Steam, both and are the target of scammers trying to trick consumers into purchasing the wrong product. Whenever a game manages to make waves within the community, there's always someone who tries to capitalize on the hype by either creating an inferior project or by simply editing a Steam listing to obscure an already existing game. Fortunately, internet-savvy users are usually quick to point out listings that aren't legitimate.

The open-world Terminator survival game is called, quite aptly, Terminator: Survivors, and it hits Steam Early Access in October.

After launching out of Steam Early Access, Eleventh Hour Games’ Last Epoch has achieved an impressive milestone. It peaked at 234,500 concurrent players recently, besting its previous record of 40,591 from March 2023, but that’s not all. The action RPG looter has achieved a higher peak on the platform than Path of Exile (211,637) and Diablo 4 (28,836).

Palworld‘s player base keeps growing. The studio has announced that it has now sold 15 million copies on Steam. The Xbox version, on the other hand, is sitting at 10 million players.

The Early Access release of open-world survival crafting game Palworld has sold approximately 15 million copies on Steam, and the Xbox Series and Xbox One versions have reached over 10 million players, developer Pocket Pair announced.

Since its release a couple of weeks ago, Helldivers 2 has shown no signs of slowing down, and even amidst widespread server and technical issues (which developer Arrowhead Game Studios is looking to address with imminent patches, the first of which has already released), the co-op shooter is continuing to attract players in numbers.

A week and a half ago, Helldivers 2 dropped on PC and PS5, and it’s been gaining quite a reputation.

Helldivers 2, the latest co-op shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios, is a smash hit. The game, which released February 8 on PS5 and PC, has surpassed popular titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Destiny 2, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in all-time peak concurrent players on Steam. Owing to its ballooning player count, however, the third-person shooter has faced persistent server issues, with developers working to issue fixes. Now, Arrowhead Games Studios has reportedly capped its concurrent players to around 450,000 to improve server stability.
