It’s been mere days since went into early access, and though the long-awaited sequel already has more environmental variety, enemies, and voice work than the acclaimed roguelike did at launch, players are already finding some hangups. The game’s early access build is meant to have some hiccups, as Supergiant Games has stated that it plans to make adjustments based on player feedback, but the weapons specifically are already irritating to some players.
Reddit user Deadredskittle shared their frustration with the new game’s weapons, noting that 's weapons feel a bit lackluster compared to those in the first game. “,” the user shared, noting that even after progressing through some of the weapons’ upgrades they felt “.”
“” the user continued. Players in the replies echoed many of the same sentiments, with user Danthefierce commenting that the weapons were “” this time around. “,” they wrote.
Hades 2 has a new protagonist, Melinoë, the Goddess of Nightmares and Ghosts, but who is she in the game and why does she want to kill Cronos?
The Umbral Flames, specifically, seem to be the fans’ least favorite, especially before being upgraded. The weapon’s special attack creates twirling flames that allow the player to target multiple enemies at once, but until that’s unlocked, plenty don’t find it worth the time investment. Reddit user Mythos1092 posted about their dissatisfaction with the weapons, ranking the set of torches lowest on their list. "," they wrote.
Redditor RushiiSushi13 echoed this in their own post, claiming the Umbral Flames are “” and “” Commenters agreed that the weapon is lackluster, but also posited that focusing on its special attack may be the key.
“,” RushiSushi13 continued. “” Reddit user Teslur also stated the twin torches feel "" in a post filled with comments feeling similarly. As was the case with the first game, all the weapons in will receive various boons from different gods, but without them, players feel the difference between the first game and the second.
That said, there seems to be a wide gap between the players who love the weapons and those who haven’t yet figured out how to deal massive damage to the tank-like enemies. Not every weapon is going to be a perfect fit for every player, but it seems that this is one area players are already hoping to see Supergiant make some adjustments to .

Buckle up. A bunch of players are competing to cross the finish line of a brutally difficult tower of racetracks in racing game Trackmania, with a prize pool of $30,000 waiting for the first three drivers to reach the top. The course is a huge, winding gauntlet made of pieces suspended in midair, and even expert players have fallen from their positions over 1000 times, their cars hurtling back to the bottom of the tower to start again. The top contenders are currently trying to crack a difficult spot to reach the 12th floor, at which point the course will reveal unknown territory. They seem a little tired, which is not surprising. They are 11 days into the event.
Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 launched to a positive critical reception (check out our review here) and a peak concurrent player count of 103,567 on Steam. Of course, this is only the beginning of early access, and it has a ways to go before its 1.0 release. The developer has outlined its goals for development, revealing that it’s released several “small hotfixes” to address crashes and progression bugs.
Square Enix recently announced a new medium-term business plan to focus on multi-platform releases and games delivering on the premise of “fun.” However, it also outlined plans to “rebuild overseas business divisions from the ground up,” which meant “optimizing costs at its European and American offices via structural reforms.” Unfortunately, it seems layoffs are part of the equation.
In , Melinoe spends just as much time collecting reagents for Incantations, such as Pearls, while defying the will of the Titans. Pearls are a rare but useful ingredient that only comes from one source in the entire game. Obtaining and farming pearls is far from easy, but knowing where to find this rare resource is essential.
Scylla and the Sirens is the second boss fight in , which caps off the Oceanus zone. The rockstar sirens aren’t quite as mechanically taxing as the previous boss encounter in Erebus, but this fight always has a lot going on. If players enter without prior knowledge, Melinoe can quickly get overwhelmed.
Hades 2's final boss battle has an unexpected easter egg that stops you from pausing the game, with an incantation even becoming available later that stops a certain big bad from messing with you.
Fallout 76 players appear to be loving the new romanceable Assaultron that was recently added to the game. Called Adelaide, this sassy robot was introduced as part of Fallout 76 Season 16, Duel with the Devil.
After what felt like a much longer wait than it really was, Hades 2 is out now in early access. PC players can dive into the roguelike sequel right now and start their war against Chronos. Not everyone is rushing to buy their copy, though. Since its release, I’ve seen a common question across social media and my own personal circles: “Should I play it now or wait for 1.0?”
Following the news that Sony no longer plans to move forward with its controversial Helldivers 2 PlayStation Network account-linking update, reviews are skyrocketing in a positive direction. The Helldivers 2 community has been up in arms over the recently announced update, which would have forced players to create and connect to a PlayStation Network account in order to access the game. Massive backlash ensued, with Helldivers 2 being review-bombed on Steam. This decision was ultimately reversed, with reviews immediately shooting up as a result.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew turned to one of the VFX artists who helped bring some of the original trilogy's most memorable special effects to life.
Hades 2 has removed one of the first game's most powerful Gods, although there's a good story explanation for why she's not offering her infamously Boons in the sequel.
