Fantasian, the Apple Arcade game written and produced by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, appears to be coming to Steam.
As spotted by Twitter user Knoebel, an apparent listing for the game has appeared in Steam’s database (as can be seeon on SteamDB).
Assuming the listing is legitimate, it means the end of the game’s exclusivity period on Apple Arcade.
Part 1 of Fantasian was released on Apple Arcade on April 2, 2001, while Part 2 was released on August 13, suggesting the game’s exclusivity period was likely two years.
Developed by Sakaguchi’s studio Mistwalker, Fantasian sees the Final Fantasy creator returning to traditional turn-based RPG gameplay for the first time since 2007’s Lost Odyssey on Xbox 360.
The game also features a new soundtrack by legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu.
Its most unique feature, however, is its art style – the game’s environments are all real-life dioramas created by Japanese artists who have worked on ‘tokusatsu’ (special effects) films including the Godzilla movies, Attack on Titan and Ultraman.
These dioramas were then scanned and turned into in-game environments, resulting in realistic backgrounds.
Sakaguchi said back in February that he wanted to bring Fantasian to PC eventually, and also potentially work on a sequel.
“We have received many requests to release the game on PC too, and there have also been requests for a sequel”, Sakaguchi explained during the Magic 2023 festival in Monaco.
“So we would like to continue working as hard as possible to meet their expectations.”

Any video game series worth its salt has its very own set of plushes for fans to collect, so naturally a series as famous and long-running as Final Fantasy has a lot of them. Pulling from all of its games, Final Fantasy's plush collection is a large one, and those of you who want to buy some might want to pick one game for now and stick to it. However, if you're on the hunt for plushes that embody the entire series, then Square Enix's new Chocobo and Moogle plushes might be for you.
It's been 14 years since the last Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game, and you'd certainly be forgiven for thinking the series is over and done with, but according to producer Akitoshi Kawazu, that isn't the case.

Final Fantasy XVI has been one of the more fascinating sales stories to watch in 2023, as the game launched as a PS5 exclusive – essentially positioned as a PlayStation first-party title – and many wondered if the gambit would pan out. Initially, Square Enix tried to paint a positive picture, boasting about how quickly the game reached the 3-million-units-sold mark, but now they seem to be singing a different tune.
Square Enix‘s share price in Japan has dropped by nearly 15% following the company’s latest earnings release.
Magic: The Gathering is nearly 30 years old, which is an auspicious anniversary. On Saturday, Wizards of the Coast announced new Universes Beyond collaborations, which bring other iconic IPs into the collectible card game.
In 2013 I had the opportunity to fly to Japan and talk to Final Fantasy 14 Game Director Yoshi-P. There was one question I wanted to know – when would Final Fantasy 14 come to the Xbox? It’s a question that I, and every Final Fantasy 14 fan, wouldn’t know the answer to for another decade.
Final Fantasy 14's annual summer event, Moonfire Faire, is ditching its usual fun-in-the-sun theme for a crossover event the beloved Japanese action show Kamen Rider, and fans are divided over whether it's better to get a superhero suit than a bikini.
Music's at the heart of Final Fantasy 14—the game brims with bangers, sure, but it's also an irreplaceable part of the game's story.

Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox – and all it took was a decade. I don’t believe in looking a gift horse in the mouth. This is amazing news. But it was the secondary part of this announcement that was more interesting to me.
