Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has enjoyed the second-best week 1 sales of any physical PS5 game in Japan.
As reported by Famitsu, the game sold 262,656 copies in its first week, dominating the Japanese physical charts and outselling the second place game, Mario vs Donkey Kong, by more than 18 times.
However, it failed to better the first-week physical Japanese sales of Final Fantasy 16, which sold 336,027 copies when it was released in June 2023.
This likely won’t be considered a major failure, because as Japanese news account @Genki_JPN points out on X, it’s still the second-best physical launch for any PS5 game in Japan.
Indeed, it sold more than twice as many copies as the third-best physical launch, Armored Core 6, which sold around 115,000 copies in its first week.

Helldivers 2 came out of nowhere and took the world by storm, and that continues to be reflected in sales. It was the UK’s best-selling game in February, and it’s been seeing consistent growth in sales in the US as well. On top of that, the game also managed to top the PlayStation Plus charts for top downloads for the month of February. In both North America and Europe, Arrowhead Game Studios’ co-op third-person shooter was No. 1.
At this point, the success of Helldivers 2 is staggering. The co-op-focused shooter topped the PS Store sales charts for February in both North America and Europe. Of course, it did have most of the month to secure the number one spot — releasing on the 8th — but it's still an impressive result for a game that seems to be utterly thriving through positive word of mouth.
