Final Fantasy has been such a massive franchise that spanned across decades and across multiple console generations. There’s been some truly standout installments from this long-running series as well. One of the more beloved games of the series was Final Fantasy VII, a title that blew up in multiple markets when it initially launched in 1997 for the Sony PlayStation. Since then, fans worldwide have pleaded for Square Enix to return and bring out a remake for this JRPG installment. Fortunately, in 2020, we finally got the first part of this remake. Since this game installment was so massive, the developers could only deliver the game in parts. We’re going to receive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second installment to this trilogy remake, in 2024.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth releases February 29, 2024, exclusively on PS5, PlayStation announced during its latest State of Play. The release-date trailer was jam-packed with cool scenes, including the Chocobo Jockey Room (you can race Chocobos), Cloud riding an electric scooter, large-scale boss battles, and appearances from fan-favorite characters. If the trailer has you sufficiently hyped, you can preorder Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth now at major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and Target. Amazon has an exclusive preorder bonus, and Deluxe edition preorders are live at Amazon, Walmart, GameStop, and Target.
Square Enix is releasing multiple editions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, including a cool Deluxe edition with a few collectibles and a very pricey Collector's edition that's exclusive to the Square Enix Store. And for those who haven't played Final Fantasy 7 Remake, a new digital-only Twin Pack will compile FF7 Remake Intergrade and Rebirth in one package. The Twin Pack costs $70 to preorder, so you're essentially getting FF7 Remake for free. The price will jump to $100 at launch.
All Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth preorders come with the Midgar Bangle Mk. II armor bracelet. You can also get bonus content if you have Final Fantasy 7 Remake save files. Remake save files from PS4 or PS5 unlock Summon Materia: Leviathan, while the Intermission DLC save file unlocks Summon Materia: Ramuh.
Amazon is offering an exclusive DualSense controller skin with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth preorders. We'll add any other retailer-exclusive bonuses to this guide as they are revealed. If you preorder from GameStop, you'll get a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth-themed trucker hat.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's standard edition is available to preorder for $70 in physical format at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. Remember when big games like the original Final Fantasy 7 came on multiple discs for PS1? Rebirth happens to be the first PS5 game to require two discs (expect it take up a nice chunk of storage space).
The $100 Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Deluxe edition comes with the base game, a hardcover art book, mini soundtrack, and steelbook case. One of the things that makes Final Fantasy VII Rebirth interesting in the eyes of fans is that the game is building off of what the original “Remake” title did in 2020. We mean they’re not simply remaking the game graphically from top to bottom. Instead, they’re expanding everything that happens in the story and fleshing out moments and characters so that everything feels more robust and meaningful. The trick is that they’re doing this while also changing key moments in the key and rewriting the fates of known characters and their deaths. That “altering” will continue in the sequel.
