Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has received new gameplay and details thanks to various hands-on impressions over the past few days. However, the development team hosted a stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2023 to show off even more, from The Grasslands and its mini-games to more combat. You can also check out more gameplay courtesy of Famitsu below.
The Grasslands is showcased at 28:59 onwards on the stream, with a trailer highlighting all the different mini-games at 1:04:08. The latter include the card game, Queen’s Blood, and the Chocobo Ranch, which is where Chocobo can be customized. A rhythm game with the piano is also seen, though this appears separate from The Grasslands.
Overall, The Grasslands are big, spanning about two kilometers and featuring lots to do. It further reinforces the game’s sheer amount of side content (doubling the main quest), the 100 hours of promised gameplay and how the world map is “one-to-one” with the original game.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on February 29th, 2024, for PS5. It will ship on two Blu-ray discs and require 150 GB of space.
Square Enix has clarified the correct pronunciation of Final Fantasy 7 character Cait Sith.
If you've played any of the Final Fantasy 7 games, you'll more than likely be aware of the Cait Sith debate. Due to the way the name is spelt and how the original Final Fantasy 7 featured no voice acting, arguments have raged for quite a while over how Cait Sith's name is pronounced. Most of us have it in our heads that the name is pronounced "Kate Sith", but there has always been a section of fans convinced it should be pronounced "Ket Shee" due to the character's background.
Square Enix has finally put an end to a 26-year-old debate ahead of the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Cait Sith is pronounced just how it looks.
