French-German TV channel Arte is best known for covering cultural events and producing sophisticated dramas and documentaries, but over the past decade it has also been building a reputation in an entirely different arena: video games.

As 2023 draws to a close, it’s time once again for the Thankmas charity event, this year once again benefiting World Central Kitchen. Originally begun by Sean “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, the event raises funds for a single organization over the course of several days in December. McLoughlin will hold a live event on December 2 in Los Angeles.

Activision and Sledgehammer Games have revealed the release timings for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Those who pre-purchased on PC can preload the Campaign on November 1st, 9 AM PT and access it early starting November 2nd, 10 AM PT.

It’s not an official theme or anything, but this week’s TV is all about fighting. There’s the two sides of superhero coming-of-age stories on Prime Video alone: the season finale of Gen V and the season premiere of Invincible. Over on Netflix there’s Blue Eye Samurai, a new show about one woman’s quest for revenge in Edo-era Japan, while on Paramount Plus the new Taylor Sheridan-produced show about Bass Reeves (David Oyelowo) is sure to bring on some Wild West violence. Throw in Love Island Games, and it seems like no matter which platform you turn to, you’re gonna get some clashes.

Stardew Valley is one of the most successful indie games of all time, with lifetime sales of over 20 million copies since its launch in 2016. Since then, developer ConcernedApe has expanded the brand to include new ventures such as the Stardew Valley board game and is currently working on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier.

With how much Dead Island 2’s apocalypse parody poked fun at the Los Angeles area earlier this year, I guess it was only a matter of time before it turned its attention from vicious zombies to equally mindless cultists. I mean, how could they forget California’s reputation for welcoming eccentric people who then take advantage of our tolerance by brainwashing vast swathes of the population? Thankfully, this is something developer Dambuster Studios has corrected with its first DLC, Haus, which transports your character to a cult compound in Malibu where you’ll rub elbows with rich elites and smack down zombies who look like they’re dressed for the runway. And while I won't turn my nose up at a few more good laughs from a game I enjoyed, a three-hour runtime and very few new wrinkles to change up Dead Island 2’s basic zombie slashing formula make this jaunt extremely short-lived and a little unexciting.

The Fallout TV series finally has a release date. In a tweet, Amazon Prime Video confirmed that the live-action adaptation of the eponymous Bethesda video game franchise will premiere April 12, 2024, exclusively on the streamer. The news comes in celebration of the annual Fallout Day — October 23 — which marks the day when the retro-futuristic in-game world was turned into a nuclear wasteland, causing survivors to scavenge and live off irradiated junk. HBO's Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are developing the series under their Kilter Films banner — billed as an original story set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles and will be included as Fallout universe canon.

The group made up of champions Ezreal, Kayn, Aphelios, Yone, K'Sante, and Sett released its first single Paranoia today.

Yesterday, the Fallout TV show received the official air date. The TV series will debut on April 12, 2024 via Amazon's Prime Video.

If you adore the Metal Gear series as much as I do, then today's your day. I have scoured my Soliton Radar for discounts that will let you secure a classic like Metal Gear Solid and remain financially liquid. The only foreseable problem: the Master Collections of these games do seem to be selling out quite rapidly on PlayStation and Xbox.
