Helldivers 2 players discover an easy and quick way to put out flames, countering the recent update that makes fire damage even deadlier than before. One of the appealing elements about Arrowhead Game Studios' latest hit, Helldivers 2, is the dynamic nature of the third-person shooter, as it constantly evolves over time both in content and features. The game itself allows for player expression and creativity, leading to plenty of funny or impressive clips online, though constant updates from the studio make sure that the experience continues to feel fresh.
While most patches and updates have been received positively from the community, there are times when some changes have had the opposite effect. Weapon and ability balancing are always a tricky subject, and has certainly led to some Helldivers 2 community frustration when popular guns like the Slugger shotgun are handed nerfs for being a bit too strong. Another recent update made big changes to fire damage, making it much more lethal than it was prior, leaving many in the community searching for ways to best counter situations when their character catches fire.
The solution for many players was to quickly take a stim, which is effective, but with how fast fire damage now ticks away at health, it isn't always the best solution. Voicing their frustration on the Helldivers subReddit, a user named raw_copium likened the recent fire changes in the latest Helldivers 2 update to getting insta-killed without a fast enough way to heal. Many in the community highlighted certain enemies like the Hulk seemingly getting a stealth buff from the fire damage increase, with many offering tips on the best ways to deal with the Automaton's elite infantry. Some even likened the recent uptick in fire damage to a bug, which doesn't seem to impact the network host player in the same way.
As the discourse continued on over the increased fire damage issue for Helldivers 2, one player named Account_0 offered a handy tip to quickly deal with canceling out the fire damage. Instead of using a stim, players should immediately dive when they catch fire, which immediately extinguishes the flame and doesn't have a long animation window when using a stim. Another user named GeneralEi also collaborated the tip while offering a point that diving right before being shot by the Hulk's flamethrower will often times result in the shot missing entirely. As an added bonus, GeneralEi mentioned that it doesn't seem like players can catch fire at all while being prone.
With most players now focusing on the Automaton faction due to a Major Order pushing to eradicate the robots entirely, new strategies are being developed to best deal with some of the tougher enemies. One Helldivers 2 player

Sony’s multiplatform release strategy has accelerated rapidly in recent years, with the company now viewing PC as a much more prominent part of its larger strategy, especially where live service titles are concerned. Earlier this year, for instance, Helldivers 2 launched simultaneously for PS5 and PC, and it’s fair to say that the majority of game’s unexpected success has been thanks to PC audiences. Now, interestingly enough, it looks like Sony might be considering ways to bring even larger audiences into Arrowhead Game Studios’ acclaimed co-op shooter.

Following a recent update that increased the amount of fire damage per tick, Arrowhead Game Studios confirms that it has plans to tone down the devastating effects in Helldivers 2. After a record-setting launch back in February, Helldivers 2 continues to maintain its impressive player numbers thanks in large part to how dynamic the game world feels. With the galactic map and missions constantly changing, Arrowhead Game Studios has managed to support the game through a live service system with consistent patches, quality of life updates, and new content to check out.

borrows a lot of things from the first game, but skips out on multiple enemy factions — not just the Illuminate. At launch and up until the time of writing, Helldivers 2 has had two enemy factions: the Terminids (Bugs) and the Automatons (Bots). However, with the recent total success of the Major Order "", it appears the Automatons have finally been eradicated once and for all. Of course, there's always a chance they'll return, but for the time being, players are left to wonder what comes next.
