After the blockbuster sequel was pushed out of 2023 and into this year, Dune 2's release is almost here. Hitting cinemas on March 1, you likely don't need me to tell you that the hype for the next chapter in Denis Villeneuve's retelling of the iconic story is finally here. Less than two weeks more to wait, and whether you want to celebrate in more ways than one, or 11 more days is still too long to wait, there's a range of Dune 2 Funko Pops available now.
Funko revealed seven characters from the sequel would be getting the Funko Pop! treatment at the end of 2023. Likely ready long before the movie was ever delayed, revealing their designs was a good way to satisfy the hunger of some fans still figuring out how to maneuver an additional four months before the movie's arrival. Now those seven Funko Pops are available to buy, all their store pages live on the Funko site, and all but one are priced at $12.
The only Pop! that will cost you more is Emperor Shaddam's which is priced at $15. I'm unsure why Shaddam's Pop! is a little pricier than the other six as at first glance, I can't see any significant differences between it and the others. It's not bigger, nor does it come with additional accessories. Still, if you want to own it, or you want the entire collection, then you'll have to pay the extra $3 for Shaddam's figure to make it yours.
Introduced to Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies in the first sequel, Emperor Shaddam is Dune 2's primary antagonist and Paul Atreides' fiercest foe. He doesn't look quite as scary as a Funko Pop!, but don't let that fool you.
Most of the characters to have received new figures are making their Funko Pop! debuts. Paul and Chani were the only ones in this selection to have received Pops as a part of the prior movie's marketing. Chani's new Pop! actually looks remarkably similar to the one she has already. The same striking blue eyes, which Paul and Stilgar also have in this new selection, but the new Pop! is wearing a slightly different outfit that doesn't include a shawl.
Chani returned in Dune 2, and she brought a new Funko Pop! along with her. Geared up for her biggest battle yet and complete with her piercing blue eyes, matching other Pops added to Funko's Dune collection.
Lego also got in on the Dune 2 hype, releasing a very special Ornithopter set made up of 1,369 pieces. The pre-order period for the Lego Ornithopter has now closed, but the set is still available on backorder through the Lego site. New stock is expected to ship on February 29, meaning just as the realization that more Dune won't be here for years after going to see the sequel, your Lego Ornithopter will arrive in the mail to ease the pain.
