CD Projekt Red has provided a quick update on the commercial success of Phantom Liberty — the big Cyberpunk 2077 expansion that released back in September of last year. The DLC launched alongside the game's 2.0 Update, which once again propelled the open world RPG back into the spotlight.
Anyway, Phantom Liberty managed to sell over 5 million copies in 2023 — which is really good going for an expansion. Last we heard, Cyberpunk 2077 itself had sold more than 25 million copies.

It took a few years for the Polish developer to make things right, but it's now fair to say that Cyberpunk 2077 is a success. Of course, all eyes will be on CDPR's next project — the new Witcher title — but the hope will be that the company has learned some valuable lessons from this whole 2077 saga.

Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
Well deserved. It took them 3 years, and I feel bad for those who got suckered in at launch, but it ended up brilliant. One of my favourite games of 2023.
Fantastic expansion so well deserved.
That seems like a high number for DLC. Nicely done.
Is that a high number for this type of dlc based on the 25 million who had the base game as of Oct? I mean they had sold 18 million 4 months in to the fraud they pulled initially. I guess for dlc it's probably a good figure though.
Its a delight, im nearing the end of it now and cant recommend it enough. This game is really refined and well worth revisiting for those who may have initially been disappointed. Ive got nearly 200hrs in it over 2 playthroughs the jank and bugs are completely gone, one of the most satisfying FPS the shotguns are particularly filthy. Such a vibrant detailed place to visit, the writing especially in phantom liberty is sublime, it really keeps you guessing.
Phantom Liberty was my favourite gaming experience of 2023. 5 million sales is well deserved if you ask me. Here's looking forward to the Witcher 4
It took them 3 years to finally get it right but what a game it now is. Fantastic writing (even before you hit Dogtown,) top notch gunplay and a bad*ss soundtrack all come together to create an absolute must play of a title. And that's without mention of the character and amazing overall aesthetic of Night City Area and its inhabitants. Well done CDPR!

The next Cyberpunk game from CD Projekt - currently codenamed "Orion" - might have multiplayer in it, according to co-CEO Michal Nowakowski. Please let it be some kind of deckhead 'passenger-seat-driver' mode, where you get to play a crusty celeb uploaded to another character's brain implants, who strolls around the landscape as a hologram, offering gritty commentary on your Night City-based endeavours. Watch those corners, samurai! Hey, you missed an ammo pack. SAMURAI ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME.
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel might still be in the conceptual phase, but CD Projekt is eyeing ramping up production later this year - and is considering multiplayer features for the new game.
allows players to dive into the rich, seedy world of Night City, and while its expansion,, added an extra level with the tourist destination-turned-combat zone, Dogtown, there is still one area that could flesh out the world even further. The expansion of wealthier areas such as North Oak in Night City.
2023 was a great year for games, and any good year for games is also a good year for powerful weapons. Weapons are how we interact with the world in video games – and we’re not going to talk about those regular boring weapons everyone can find. These are the secret weapons – the unlockables we missed and the overpowered tools of destruction we’d do anything to earn. Some of these weapons are ridiculously difficult to unlock but they’re all worth tracking down in 2024.
Through preordained fate or pure chance, 2023 will go down as one of the best years ever when it comes to the quality and quantity of games released throughout the year. Most of these games were likely originally targeting 2022 or even earlier, but the global pandemic threw everyone's plans in the air and forced us to wait until 2023. As they say, though, good things come to those who can wait.
For many players, is best when there is a focus on roleplaying to fully let the immersion of becoming V take over and get lost in the world of Night City and its surrounding areas. The intricate details in the game, as well as the beautiful, yet dark, graphics help to make this possibility a reality. Just walking down the street and listening in on NPC conversations or having a seat at a bar and ordering a drink can all help not only make the game come more alive but also allow players a chance to escape from the real world for a bit and enjoy a different environment in the dystopian future.
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Project Red announced that the game’s Phantom Liberty expansion has sold five million copies in a post shared to X yesterday.
It’s been a funny old time for Cyberpunk 2077. Upon launching at the tail end of 2020, it went down as one of the most negatively received games due to its unfinished state. Now, with Phantom Liberty‘s launch and being one of the top-selling Steam releases of 2023, CD Projekt Red’s dystopian RPG has finally arrived.
2024 has begun favorably for CD Projekt RED as the Polish game developer announced yesterday that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty sold over five million units across all platforms, following the previous benchmark of 4.3 million units from late November.
