Activision has announced more details on the upcoming Season 1 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, including a first look at the new core multiplayer maps coming to the game.
Modern Warfare III currently has a roster of 16 core multiplayer maps, and they are all reimagined versions of maps from 2009's Modern Warfare II. When Season 1 launches in early December, though, fans will get brand-new core multiplayer maps for 6v6 modes.
Two of these, Meat and Greece, will be available at launch, with the third--Rio--coming during the Season 1 Reloaded update later on.
Meat is described as a «compact» map set in a slaughterhouse. Greece, meanwhile, is a medium-sized multiplayer space modeled after a Mediterranean coastal town. Rio is set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at an upscale shopping center.
In addition to these new maps, players can expect an additional mode, Gunfight, which has teams of two facing off on small maps. There is an all-new Gunfight map coming to Modern Warfare III in Season 1 called Training Facility. It's a small environment with lots of places to climb and hide.
Take a look at the new maps in the image gallery above.
Season 1 also brings with it new story content for Zombies mode, as well as a weapon called Friend Zone that turns zombie and human enemies into teammates.
What's more, Season 1 marks the launch of the all-new Warzone map, Urzikstan. Additionally, with the Season 1 launch, Warzone will be updated with features from Modern Warfare III, including slide-cancelling and tac-stance.
Modern Warfare 3 was just updated today, November 17, with a series of changes to player movement and a fix for a serious Zombies issue.
