Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone arrives today, bringing a fresh battle pass to level up, more DLC weapons to unlock, and a new battle royale map. Activision has revealed the full patch notes for the big update, which includes weapon balancing, quality of life updates, and more.
The Season 1 update brings brand-new maps to multiplayer, the return of Call of Duty's 2v2 Gunfight mode, and Zombies has a new story mission. Warzone replaces Al Mazrah with the new Urzikstan map. The map features a 100-player count, and the matches should average around 20 minutes.

As always, the seasonal battle pass has free and paid tiers of the pass. Three guns and two killstreaks are unlocked in the free tiers, and there are two operators in the premium pass. The BlackCell premium bundle also returns with a new operator named Abolisher.
For multiplayer, the Season 1 patch notes detail spawn improvements to Hardpoint and improved spawn protection against killstreaks and equipment.
The season includes some weapon balancing as well. Popular submachine guns received movements nerfs with the Striker, WSP Swarm, and Striker 9 all receiving decreases to sprint to fire time and aim down sights time. The riot shield now does increased melee damage from 50 to 75, but the movement with the shield is nerfed. Players will have a 10% movement speed penalty while the shield is stowed.
Many MW2 guns were tuned to be more viable. Weapons such as the M4 assault rifle, Vaznev-9K and ISO 45 submachine guns, and the TAQ-V battle rifle all received damage buffs. Additionally, weapons from MW2 gained an increase to reserve ammunition to be on par with MW3 standards.
Zombies players have more of the storyline to dive into. Act IV and a new story mission are immediately available for all players at the start of Season 1. The V-R11 Wonder Weapon is added to the weapon pool, Dark Aether Rifts can be discovered on the map, and there are three new schematics to unlock for crafting.
The patch notes address issues with the Tombstone perk. This includes exploits with duplicating the perk, instances where the Tombstone could spawn under the map, or cases where it could spawn in a location other than where the player died.
The Exfil locations have an increase in the number of enemies spawned, with the final exfil receiving a significant boost
