Future minor Cyberpunk 2077 updates aren't ruled out, according to Game Director Gabe Amatangelo.
The Game Director said as much in a new interview with reported Stephen Totilo (for the Game File newsletter). The story of Cyberpunk 2077 is well-known among the community, and the development team has done an amazing job of turning a rather troubled game at launch (although CDPR's VP of PR and Communication didn't fully agree with that) into a tremendous one. Numerous patches and updates were released following the game's launch in 2020, including the recent 2.0 update alongside the praised Phantom Liberty expansion. The free 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty expansion were supposed to be the game's final updates, but back in December of last year, the team decided to roll out patch 2.1 for the game. This update added a fully working metro system alongside new vehicles, new interactions with the chosen romantic partner, ray tracing improvements, and more.
CDPR, however, wasn't done as earlier this year, patch 2.11 was rolled out across all platforms. Although not as big as patch 2.1, this update fixed the annoying finisher animations alongside various other reported issues.
As now outed by Amatangelo, the team is "done" with Cyberpunk 2077, but "little" updates aren't off the table as long as developers have some bandwidth and the work on the game doesn't interfere with other work.
“Yes. We're done,” the Game Director said in the interview. He added, "It's possible that there's some other little thing that comes in here or there, just because, as you're kind of messing around with stuff, sometimes you discover something that is not a high risk. Or it's easy to integrate. Or, you know, some developers have some bandwidth.
“Then they bring it to me. I'm like, ‘All right, well, I trust you that it isn't going to mess with your other work…So let's give it a go.”
So, don't expect any major updates or new content for Cyberpunk 2077, but minor patches for the game can still be expected.
