Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Game Studio's highly successful sequel to 2015's Helldivers, was the highest-growing title on PC and PS5 in the US and UK in February 2024.
That's what leading gaming market research firm Newzoo writes in a new article on its blog. A lot has been said and written about the success of Arrowhead's game with recent claims that the game has sold way over 5 million copies across both PC and PS5 since its launch last month, and topping sales charts.

In the new article from Newzoo, the research firm has shared some interesting (estimated) figures, monthly active users (MAU) stats, spent play time, revenue data, and more. As mentioned in the article, Arrowhead's sequel topped the revenue charts last month across PC and PS5 in both the UK and US. In addition, it was the highest-grossing game in Italy as well. In other European countries, including France, Germany, Spain, and the UK, the game was only bested by EA Sports FC 24 when it comes to revenue.
We've included the infographic that Newzoo shared below:
As for Monthly Active Users, Helldivers 2 took the 15th spot across both PC and PlayStation 5, whereas when only looking at the shooting genre, it ranked sixth. "Further breaking down its MAU, the game ranked third on PS and sixth on PC in the shooter genre", the article reads. "Also, 4.8% of the PC/PS gaming audience played Helldivers 2 this month, ranking it seventeenth in player share."
Interestingly, the research firm has also shared some details about player acquisition, writing that, out of the 31% who stopped playing Pocketpair's Palworld, checked out Helldivers 2 (35.5% of players who stopped playing Fortnite, played Arrowhead's title). "Solely looking at player acquisition from games within the same genre, 17.5% of those who stopped playing THE FINALS and 16.5% of those who stopped playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II/III/Warzone 2.0 played Helldivers 2", Newzoo writes.
Interesting stats for Helldivers 2 and it will be interesting to see how sales and player numbers for the game will evolve over time.

A few days ago, Kotaku published a report suggesting Grand Theft Auto 6 may be delayed to late 2025 or even 2026. We didn't report on it because it seemed ephemeral rather than substantial, which Bloomberg's Jason Schreier (formerly of Kotaku himself) has now confirmed.
