Lego Fortnite is the sandbox survival game mode added to Fortnite in Chapter 5 Season 1, but can you actually complete your battle pass from only playing it?
The short answer is yes, you can earn XP in Lego Fortnite. However, we’re not entirely sure how the XP gain inLego Fortnite works.
The game doesn’t tell you when you earn XP, but you are given levels and battle stars once you leave the game mode. As of writing this, I’ve played for quite a bit (my village is almost level 8 and I have a handful of nice structures) and I’m level 10 on my battle pass from almost exclusively playing Lego Fortnite. (To be clear, I played maybe two Battle Royale games before I started grinding Lego Fortnite. I only completed one Kickstart quest in those two matches.)
You can gain up to four levels from completing a few tutorial-level quests, such as starting a creative world, building a workbench in survival, and entering a cave.
My current hypothesis is that you can gain a set amount of XP per day, as I was able to gain levels on day one, but my levels stagnated after playing a lot within one day. However, once I started playing on day two, I was greeted with a level gain pretty soon after opening my world. At that, I gained a level while I was alt-tabbed, doing something else and just standing around in-game. The only way I knew I gained a level while AFK-ing was through the “Runway Racer” quest prompt, since those quests are just about gaining account levels.
When we figure out more about the intricacies of how XP and leveling works in Lego Fortnite, we’ll update this guide.
