Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III gets its reveal inside Warzone tomorrow as a ‘direct sequel’

Activision has released a 9-minute campaign gameplay video for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III just got a gameplay reveal trailer — a slightly misleading title, given most of the footage is loaded with cinematics. Indeed, it is focused on the campaign, which sees Captain Price and his Task Force 141 take on the Russian ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov, as he extends his grasp across the world. Publisher Activision has introduced a new non-linear campaign structure called ‘Open Combat Missions,' memorable multiplayer maps, and a Zombies mode set in an open world. Pre-orders for the game are now live across all major platforms.

Publisher Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games have released gameplay reveal trailer and first details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, as well as confirmed its launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10. Digital pre-orders are available now via PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Battle.net.

There was plenty of hype built up over the next Call of Duty installment. We’ve seen several leaks pop up, with Activision finally confirming that the next game was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. For the first time in back-to-back years, Call of Duty returns with a direct sequel as Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III picks up immediately following the events of last year's incredible blockbuster Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II. This all-new experience is scheduled to be released worldwide on Friday, November 10th allowing players for the first time to continue their journey, progression, and story seamlessly for a new year to come.

Activision and developers Sledgehammer Games, Infinity Ward, and Treyarch revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Thursday, during an in-game event in Warzone. This year’s Call of Duty will feature a number of firsts for the franchise: It’s the first back-to-back direct sequel in Call of Duty history; the game’s multiplayer will carry over “a vast amount of content” from last year’s game; and the beloved Zombies co-op mode will be playable in a Modern Warfare setting.

Last week, Activision officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and now they’ve confirmed they’ll be fully unveiling the game via an in-game event in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 tomorrow (August 17). “Operation Shadow Siege” will kick off in Warzone 2.0 at 10:30am PT, run around half an hour, and offer rewards for those who participate. Activision is doing something different with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, this year's entry in the blockbuster military shooter series.
