Blizzard Unveils Diablo Immortal 2024 Roadmap Kicking Off With Precipice Of Horror Next Week

Over a year after its exit from China, Blizzard announced its return to the country thanks to a new partnership agreement with NetEase. Starting in the summer of 2024, fans of Blizzard and Microsoft games in China can expect to see the return of titles such as World of Warcraft and Hearthstone that were part of the previous NetEase agreement.

When Diablo 3 got its pre-Reaper of Souls expansion patch dubbed 'loot 2.0' in 2014, it was credited with turning Blizzard’s action role-playing game around. Critics and players called loot 2.0 a big improvement on Diablo 3, with changes that sparked renewed interest from a community that had dropped off following the base game’s 2012 release. Now, 10 years later, Blizzard is aiming to repeat the trick with Diablo 4 Season 4.

Blizzard games are set to return to China in a new licensing agreement, well over a year after games like Diablo 4 and World of Warcraft exited the country after Blizzard and NetEase failed to reach an agreement.

Blizzard and NetEase have formally announced they have renewed their partnership to bring Blizzard games back to China.

Blizzard is implementing Fortunate Finds in Tejal's Shop in Diablo 4, allowing for personal shop discounts on a player-by-player basis of up to 50% off.

With the PTR for Diablo 4's Season 4 ending this Tuesday (4/9), and a handful of important interactions still being bugged and non-playable, some players have rallied behind the desire to extend the PTR to identify and provide feedback on additional bugs. Adam Fletcher, Global Community Development Director, went to X (formerly known as Twitter) to respond to players' curiosity: While some players might feel as if their concerns are being ignored, don't! It's important to recognize there are likely many aspects of gameplay Blizzard is looking for data and feedback on, besides the issues the community is zeroing in on. D4 Forum community member boltbane also raised a good point — if Blizzard thinks it's necessary, there's still plenty of time for another PTR before Season 4 officially launches on May 14. Blizzard is looking at feedback regarding high Veiled Crystal costs associated with the new Codex of Power in the Diablo 4 PTR, and could be reducing costs in the future. While many materials have received changes in the PTR, in some cases completely overhauling their systems, Veiled Crystal have become a pain point — what was once an incredibly common material has now become much rarer, and high costs are eating through lowered supplies. Blizzard has not committed to a firm change yet, however they've noted that the feedback regarding these Crystals is common.

The first Public Test Realm for Diablo 4 is now live, and many players are itching to get their hands on the new content and systems. However, there is yet to be a reveal of Season 4's theme — and there won't be on the PTR itself, according to Blizzard. Diablo 4 PTR Patch 1.4.0 Patch Notes Now Available Diablo 4 PTR Now Live Associate Game Director Joe Piepiora responded to player questions about the Season 4 reveal and that it will not be made known until some time after the PTR goes down. Piepiora went on to add context to the matter in another reply, suggesting that the PTR is squarely focused on huge amount of systems and itemization changes coming to the game. This is fairly understandable considering the scope of Patch 1.4.0. Adding the seasonal content on top of that would split the focus of not only the developers, but the playerbase engaging in the PTR for testing and feedback as well. But the question at this point is: when will the Season 4 reveal be? Diablo 4's 4th Season is confirmed to start on May 14th, and the PTR ends on April 9th. This leaves 35 days between the end of the PTR and the start of Season 4. If Blizzard gives at least a week for the final Patch Notes to be public and some time to prepare after the PTR ends, we could potentially expect the Season 4 reveal to be somewhere near April 30th. However, we do have one slight hint as to what the Season 4 theme could be. During the PTR, this placeholder Season banner was discovered: While this could be easily and most likely be a placeholder name for the Season, the huge reworks to itemization and loot overall does at least lend some credibility towards the general theme the season might be going for.
