Black Myth: Wukong – Leaked PC Requirements Reveal 130 GB Installation Space

As part of our Black Myth: Wukong hands-on preview, I found and beat about seven different bosses in the two-hour demo for the upcoming action RPG. It's good! Very good, even. I can't talk about one of the hidden bosses, but I can absolutely talk about one of the optional ones: the Wandering Wight, a towering, big-headed monk described as glowing like aged copper and roaming the mountains in search of something lost. I tell you what, reader, he's lost a lot more now but at least his search is over.

The list of impressive looking soulslike games on the horizon is long, with games like Phantom Blade Zero, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, and Wuchong: Fallen Feathers all having solid showings this summer event season. But there’s always been something extra special about Black Myth: Wukong. It’s stunningly gorgeous, the animations are incredibly fluid, it’s steeped in rich Chinese culture, and there’s just something immensely satisfying about playing as a Monkey King and beating up all sorts of mythical creatures with a giant extendable staff. While this isn’t the first time IGN has gone hands-on with the game, it is my own personal first time with it – and after two hours of playtime with the opening chapter, I somehow walked away even more excited for its August 20th release.

Black Myth: Wukong received a new cinematic trailer during Summer Game Fest, but the bigger story here is that the upcoming action game — set to release on the 20th August — is now a PS5 console exclusive at launch. But before everyone starts screaming about Sony somehow moneyhatting the title, this is actually down to Xbox.

In a move that's sure to rub physical media enthusiasts the wrong way, highly anticipated action title Black Myth: Wukong will not ship on an actual disc. Developer Game Science has confirmed that the physical editions of the game — which is due out on the 20th August — will simply house digital activation codes.

Pre-orders for the upcoming and eagerly-anticipated RPG Black Myth: Wukong were the biggest seller on Steam last week. 

Update - June 8: Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science has confirmed in an FAQ dated June 8 that the Xbox version of the upcoming Soulslike action RPG has indeed been delayed due to quality concerns, which certainly reads like a nice way of saying the Xbox Series S, the weakest system on the platform list, is struggling to run this thing. While developer Game Science recently kicked off pre-orders for the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions of upcoming action adventure title Black Myth: Wukong, the studio has now revealed in an FAQ on its official website that the physical releases of the game will not include discs.

Following its various editions leaking, Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong received a new CG trailer at Summer Game Fest. Though demos will be showcased from June 8th to 10th, these are behind closed doors, so we may not learn their details until later. On the bright side, pre-orders are now available, with multiple editions revealed.

Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong is on track to launch this August, with pre-orders currently available. While PS5 and PC players can dive in at launch, Xbox Series X/S players must wait longer. In a new pre-order FAQ, the developer said it’s currently “optimizing” the Xbox version.

Chinese developer and publisher Game Science has delayed the Xbox Series X/S version of Black Myth: Wukong.

At Summer Game Fest 2024, Chinese developer Game Science released a new trailer for Black Myth: Wukong and opened pre-orders for the PC and PlayStation 5 versions. The Xbox Series S|X version has been delayed and will be released later.
