Behaviour Interactive revealed a new game at The Game Awards 2023, a Dead by Daylight spin-off called The Casting of Frank Stone. It’s developing the game in partnership with Supermassive Games, and its set to launch in 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The Casting of Frank Stone is a narrative horror game set in the world of Dead by Daylight, following a group of kids as they become embroiled in the legacy of titular serial killer Frank Stone. As is typical of Supermassive titles, the game will feature decisions and player-influenced outcomes.
Mathieu Côté, Behaviour’s head of partnerships, said in a statement, “We’re always looking at ways to offer different experiences to the Dead by Daylight community. Our players have been interested in a single-player narrative experience for quite some time, and we’re excited to expand the Dead by Daylight universe and explore new territory with Supermassive games, a studio that is at the forefront of modern video game storytelling.”

The rumours of Nvidia's refresh of its RTX 40-series of GPUs have been steadily building for months and although the final specifications have yet to be set in stone, the dates when you can buy them all have been leaked. The RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4080 Super will reportedly be announced 8 January 2024 and will reach retailers' shelves by 17, 24, and 31 January respectively. Oh, and the wholly unnecessary RTX 3050 6GB will be available in February, too.

Swen Vincke, Baldur’s Gate 3 director and CEO of Larian Studios, recently offered his condolences to the massive group of Wizards of the Coast workers affected by Hasbro’s latest round of layoffs, drawing specific attention to the fact that nearly everyone at the company who was part of early discussions about the Dungeons & Dragons-based game is now gone.
The record-breaking GTA 6 trailer is packed full of details (IGN spotted 99!), but one that’s gone under the radar is a cool nod to Rockstar’s previous game.
As a storytelling medium, games are strange. In my day job, I tell students that the medium-specific dimension of games is that they respond to our choices in real time: you press a button, Mario jumps. You choose a line of dialogue, and a scene can suddenly turn violent or comedic. This means that games, especially narrative-focused ones, are simultaneously a way for us to tell a story and a way for us to be told a story. Clara Fernández-Vara and Matthew Weise, in talking about world-building, call the world of a game a “story engine”: by creating a fleshed-out and engaging world, the designer builds story potential, which the player then “actualizes” through their play.
Final Fantasy 16’s core development crew have moved on from the project and aren’t expecting to work on a direct follow-up, according to the game’s producer.
Dark mist, bloody meat hooks, and one, lonely killer — these are the sinister ingredients for Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive's asymmetrical survival horror game.
Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight universe is about to get even bigger with The Casting of Frank Stone, which is being developed by The Dark Pictures Anthology studio Supermassive Games.
We’ll get to explore Dead by Daylight‘s world once more through The Casting of Frank Stone, a new title by Behaviour Interactive in partnership with Supermassive Games.
Earlier this year, Supermassive Games, the team behind The Quarry, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and Until Dawn, announced it was collaborating with Behaviour Interactive to create a single-player game set in the latter's Dead by Daylight universe. After teasing an appearance at The Game Awards 2023 yesterday online, the teams have officially revealed The Casting of Frank Stone. It hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2024.
