With Battlefield 2042 entering its final season, DICE released a roadmap of content and events players can expect to see over the next few months. It has been a bittersweet week for fans of EA's Battlefield 2042, as the developer DICE not only releasing a seventh season, but confirming that the game is quickly approaching its end. With how bad the game's launch was in 2021, most fans probably didn't expect it to last as long as it did, but Battlefield 2042 improved over time, fixing the various issues and continued adding new features and content to help the game reach new heights while fostering a bigger community.
For all of the momentum that Battlefield 2042 has earned recently, EA is planning to turn the page to what's next for the franchise. However, while the content is set to come to an end, the game will still receive periodic updates to ensure a healthy experience for those still playing, DICE is planning to use Season 7 to send the game off with a bang.

Following the news of Battlefield-focused Ridgeline Games shutting down, many fans are wondering where the franchise is going next. Motive has a good handle on the Frostbite engine, so many fans have already speculated that the studio could have taken over the single-player project that Ridgeline was reportedly working on prior to the studio being closed.
