Players are liable to first meet Volo in the Emerald Grove, where he's interviewing a druid in Wild Shape about the recent goblin-tiefling conflicts. He twists their words to craft an exaggerated account of their recent battle, before disappearing from the grove. As it turns out, Volo's been kidnapped by goblins and forced to perform odes to their leader Dror Ragzlin. The party needs to rescue him if they want to see more of the blustering bard.

The side quest "" forces players to decide the fate of a former SovOil agent named Katya. The quest begins with Ana and Steven, two members of a Brazilian intelligence agency, hiring V to find their missing friend and former collaborator, one Mark Bana. Bana wore a biomonitor at the time of his disappearance, which is still giving off signals to suggest he might be alive. However, the agents warn that it might not actually be Bana behind the signals. V tracks Bana through Organitopia, a natural history museum taken over by technological scavengers, and at the end of it all, finds Katya.

Pandirna isn't a character that every campaign will run across, but encountering her can lead to some interesting choices in Act 1 of the game. One of the tieflings that can be found in Druid Grove, Pandirna isn't easy to stumble upon in the way that most of the refugees are. Instead, she can be found inside a locked hut, which requires a bit of sneaking to enter without triggering any onlookers or guards. The tiefling is guarding a chest inside, although all she can really do to guard it is slump against the side.

In , players must decide Sophia's ultimate fate. Sophia is a bit of a mystery. She's roughly equivalent to the Blue Fairy, who originally appeared in as Pinocchio's greatest ally and advisor. In, she helps him level up with Ergo, revives him when he dies, and is generally a force for good. Throughout most of the plot, she doesn't seem to have ulterior motives of her own, besides a genuine desire to help Pinocchio and see him through his journey. However, as players approach the final moments of the game, they realize that Sophia is out for more.

In the Dogtown district of 's new DLC, there are many gigs that V can take on for extra rewards and to get some expanded backstory and questing in. However, they are often still filled with the same tough types of decisions that are present throughout the game. Raphael's is one of many cures dangled in front of the party throughout the game, which vary greatly both in efficacy and veracity. While it quickly becomes pretty clear that Auntie Ethel's help isn't all that she promises in , Raphael's confidence and apparent power make his deal sound more tempting.
