Asymmetric horror game Dead by Daylight has added Alan Wake, the protagonist of Remedy Entertainment’s series of the same name, to its roster.
Alan Wake’s likeness in Dead by Daylight is based on Ilkka Villi, the same physical actor from the source games. Matthew Porretta also reprises his role voicing the iconic author.
The new chapter includes three character perks for Alan Wake. «Champion of Light» enhances movement speed while shining a flashlight and can hinder the killer's progress if successfully blinding them. «Boon: Illumination» allows the creation of a totem, revealing generator and chest auras to nearby survivors. «Deadline» increases skill check frequency during healing or generator repair when injured, with reduced penalties for missed checks.
Sam Lake, creative director of Remedy Entertainment, had the following to say on Alan Wake’s inclusion in Dead by Daylight:
“We are thrilled to bring Alan Wake, our tortured writer, into the acclaimed Dead by Daylight. We feel the lore of our two horror experiences is a match made in the Dark Place and can't wait to experience the horrors that await him in the Fog.”
Alan Wake will be available in Dead by Daylight for $9.99 when the game’s new chapter officially drops on January 30, 2024.
Fans of the series can also look forward to new DLC for Alan Wake 2 releasing sometime this year.

Remedy Entertainment's creative director Sam Lake has teased what fans can expect from Alan Wake 2's upcoming (downloadable content) DLC in regards to its ties to Control 2.
Remember how Control's AWE expansion served as a follow-up to Alan Wake and a prelude to the recent survival horror sequel, Alan Wake 2? Remedy says it isn't looking to replicate that with Alan Wake 2's two confirmed expansions and Control 2, although they will contain hints to the sequel.
Alan Wake is coming to Dead by Daylight at the end of this month, the tortured writer set to be the latest survivor in the long-running multiplayer horror game, but how did this come to be and what will Alan play like?
The Rockstar Editor will soon be removed from the PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA Online because last-gen consoles aren't getting any younger.
Earlier this month, Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive made the exciting announcement that Alan Wake is being added to the game as a playable Survivor on January 30. His addition immediately has us all asking if any playable Killers from the Alan Wake series could be added in the future too, but Scratch has been taken off the table as he's "too close" to The Entity.
Dead by Daylight, the multiplayer survival horror released back in 2016, has had some eclectic crossovers in its eight years. From Chucky, to Halloween's Laurie Strode, to Nicolas Cage, it's giving Fortnite a run for its money.
Fans of Control and the world that it shares with the Alan Wake games may have much to look forward to, as a new trademark filed by Remedy Entertainment provides more information pertaining to the next game in the series. It's known that Remedy apparently has a number of different projects in the works, but new information suggests that the studio has even grander aspirations for the future of the Control universe than fans had expected.
You could say that Alan Wake 2 was decades in the making. Last year’s blockbuster from Remedy saw the studio return to its roots and the horrors therein, dredging up the past to loop into something new, now. But it wasn’t just the main character or gameplay style we saw return, but the sounds and inspirations of the original Alan Wake too, bubbling up from Cauldron Lake through the music of Poe.
What is it? Alan Wake is coming to Dead By Daylight.
Not content with his starring turns in Fortnite last year, everyone's favourite monologuing horror writer Alan Wake is preparing for another multiplayer crossover, this time making the jump to Behaviour Interative's asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight on 30th January.
