Apple is set to launch the Vision Pro headset in the United States next month. The headset has gathered ample attention over the past few months, and as the launch nears, users are gearing up to pre-order the device on January 19. Since it is an entirely new product, the ordering process would differ slightly from the iPhone or Mac. This time, the Apple Store app will use a facial scan to determine and pre-order the correct Vision Pro component size. This would allow the headset to be ordered with components tailored to your size.
If you plan to spend upwards of $3,499 for the Vision Pro, you should know that the pre-order process differs from your standard iPhone order. This Apple Store app will take a facial scan to measure the required size of the Light Seal and the Head Band. If the Light Seal and the Head Band size are incorrect, the Vision Pro will wobble around and not work as intended.
The news was shared by MacRumors, suggesting that the Apple Store app will take a facial scan to provide users with a custom fit for the Light Seal and Head Band. The Apple Store app code reads:
"You may scan your face to determine your size for Apple Vision Pro."
Apple is already familiar with the technology as it has been testing the Head Measure and Fit app with developers to measure their sizes. Henceforth, the Apple Store app will be built around similar technology. If you are unfamiliar with it, the Head Band and Light Seal for the Vision Pro will be available in varying sizes, allowing users to choose their size for a comfortable fit. The mechanism holds immense importance as it could alter the entire Vision Pro experience.
With the Apple Store app's new facial scan feature, users can determine the size of the Head Band and the Light Seal at home and are not required to visit the Apple Store. In the box, you will get the Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band. The latter goes on your head, which will assist in distributing the weight of the headset evenly. A Light Seal and two Light Seal Cushions are also part of the package. It will also contain your customized lens, but you are required to provide a valid prescription. As mentioned, the Vision Pro will launch on February 2.
