has some locations that developers created but for whatever reason did not make accessible to players by normal means, including one such area that has been found in new content from Update 2.1. Night City and its surrounding areas have many of these little spots that could have been designed as secrets for curious players to find or could have simply been blocked off due to not having enough time during development to finish them properly. The biggest surprise is just how detailed some of these places can be.
Update 2.1 of was added on December 5, 2023, and brought many changes to the game, including a long-desired functioning metro system. If V doesn't feel like driving or fast traveling, they can use any of the NCART stations to pick a destination and sit back on a train car to enjoy the ride, which includes the views of Night City locations it passes. Some areas, understandably, had to be created for the metro to travel through while giving players a pleasant, tourist-like, experience of the city.
One of 's new metro areas includes a tunnel going through the Petrochem Tower in Memorial Park and passing by an unusable metro station inside. As is the case in many other tunnels for the metro, decorations are visible, and NPCs are meandering about the spot. It is beautifully crafted for a quick peek as a train rolls past, and it hides many little details that would never be seen from the metro.
SirMZK posted a video on YouTube (shown below) that shows his exploration of this Memorial Park metro station. Although V can follow the train tunnels nearly into the area, invisible barriers block the way just before entry. By cheating the system a little, players can float through the invisible walls and explore the inaccessible station, but if they try to walk around, they will quickly realize that the ground is not solid. Despite this small problem, the entire space is intricately detailed with decorations, trash, NPCs, and more to create a living section of Night City.
The NPCs tucked away in this forgotten space are even having conversations with dialogue that can be overheard. The tunnels leading into the station are seen to have NPCs working on scaffolding and posters on the walls, which could be viewed by someone on the metro. While impressive in their detail, they still make more sense than the areas of the hidden Memorial Park metro station and include many realistic features that cannot be seen by a train car.
For regular players looking out the windows of the train in, there wouldn't need to be an actual inside area for the 25/7 Shop that is part of this Memorial Park Metro Station. Surprisingly, the store is intricately designed beyond what would be seen from the metro. Even walking around and

Call it love at first sight. Every year, I come across a handful of products that elicit instant joy, a sense of elation that's so strong I forget about the many ways the tech industry is actively making our world worse. As we wrap up CES 2024 in Las Vegas, I can't stop thinking about the new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, the latest edition of one of our favorite gaming laptops.
There aren't many animals around in , but there's a perfectly good reason for that. Compared to the average open-world RPG, there's relatively little wildlife in and around Night City. 's urban environment is partially to blame, but even then, there's almost none of the animal life that's commonly seen in American cities. There are no pigeons perched on buildings, rats digging through trash, or squirrels climbing up trees. Outside the city, in the wide open space of the Badlands, there aren't really any animals to be seen, either.
Working on the basis that time heals all wounds (well, time and a hell of a lot of patches), I finally took the plunge back into Cyberpunk 2077 over the year-end holidays, and found myself enthralled by Night City – just as I’d fervently hoped I would be three years ago when the game originally launched.
has impressively realized its setting of Night City, right down to the slang used by its denizens, including the often repeated «choom.» The term of endearment is heard throughout the game, and the protagonist, V, is referred to as such frequently. Night City and 's slang, however, were not created by developer CD Projekt Red. Both predate the video game by some time, and have their roots in the wider franchise, so understanding the meaning and prevalence of the slang term choom requires a bit of background.
Soon you'll be able to play the latest and greatest hits from Night City's top radio stations at home with the Cyberpunk 2077 Radio Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 vinyls, which are officially up for preorder. A Easter egg has revealed a creepy obsession with the ex-soldier and Rockerboy, Johnny Silverhand. Despite dying in 2023, 54 years prior to the events of V's story in the game, Silverhand and his band, Samurai still have some die-hard fans in Night City, even if some of the younger generation seem to show little interest.
With several updates since 's 2020 launch, players can immerse themselves in the shady criminal underworld of Night City better than ever before. However, adding one feature to the game's Cyberware and physical appearance mechanic could add yet another layer to this immersion.
CD Projekt has deemed Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty a commercial success after revealing it hit similar numbers to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
Cyberpunk 2077 came out on December 10, 2022, nearly three years ago. It was a mess at launch, so bad in fact that it was pulled from the PlayStation store amidst an influx of refund demands. CD Projekt Red got to work on updating the game to fix the myriad problems plaguing performance, while also working to introduce some of the key promises absent in the final game such as a working metro, ultimately delaying DLC plans.
's Night City is the home to many gangs, each with its own rich history and lore. While gangs such as Maelstrom were formed out of the remains of a former gang, the Metal Warriors, and the Tyger Claws employed methods of Asian crime syndicates such as the Yakuza or the Triads, one of the coolest gangs in the city, the Mox, has an origin steeped in tragedy.
For many players, is best when there is a focus on roleplaying to fully let the immersion of becoming V take over and get lost in the world of Night City and its surrounding areas. The intricate details in the game, as well as the beautiful, yet dark, graphics help to make this possibility a reality. Just walking down the street and listening in on NPC conversations or having a seat at a bar and ordering a drink can all help not only make the game come more alive but also allow players a chance to escape from the real world for a bit and enjoy a different environment in the dystopian future.
