Independent studio Yellow Brick Games has parted way with Private Division and has moved to self-publishing its debut title.
In a press release, the developer said that it would be releasing its first game, a fantasy action-adventure project, in 2025 on its own steam. Yellow Brick was founded by veterans of Ubisoft and BioWare in November 2020. Private Division signed to publish the studio's first title in 2022.
"We are thrilled to share this exciting news with our community," the developer's chief creative officer Mike Laidlaw said.
"Self-publishing is a leap of faith, especially in the current turbulent industry climate, but it’s also an opportunity to take our destiny into our own hands and reach out directly to players and the wider gaming community during this release. Our team has been hard at work for years, and we can’t wait to showcase our debut project to the world. It’s a huge milestone for us, and we see it as just the first step on what we hope will be a long and rewarding journey for the company, charting our own path, and growing our talents and products brick by brick.”
Co-founder and CEO Thomas Giroux added: “We see this change in a very positive light as we now fully control our studios' ambitions, and the scope of our game remains unchanged. The player experience will always be our primary indicator of success. Showing the world our project and building an authentic bond with our community is the next exciting step in our journey."
