Yellow Brick Games leaves publisher to self-publish debut title

GTA 6 publishers Take-Two Interactive have announced that they're "rationalizing" their "pipeline" and positioning/restructuring/streamlining for growth by, you guessed it, laying off a load of people and cancelling a bunch of games. As detailed in a Security Exchange Commission filing, Take-Two are doing away with five per cent of the approximately 11,000 people who work for them, and have cancelled several in-development projects worth tens of millions of dollars.

Harold Halibut, a unique narrative game developed by Slow Bros. is releasing day one on Xbox Game Pass, and subscribers will also be able to upgrade for free to Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition. Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass continues to offer an appealing library of games for members to enjoy, and the selection changes every month as new titles are added and others are removed.

Rockstar Games' flagship GTA Online-focused subscription service, GTA+, is receiving a price hike with no formal announcement. This news is likely to make fans of Grand Theft Auto Online who were already critical of the service even less pleased with it.

In 2022, Loric Games was founded by Brian Johnson, Ray Soto, and Rob Denton–all former pros at Mythic Entertainment. Botany Manor, a relaxing puzzle and adventure game developed by Balloon Studios, is now available as a day one launch title for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, and the highly rated interactive story Kona is also making a return to the service. Set in an expansive estate in 1890’s Somerset, England, Botany Manor is an immersive sim that puts players in the role of Arabella Greene, a retired botanist who continues to dabble in her passion and research. Many players will enjoy spending several relaxing hours completing Arabella’s botany research, growing rare plants, and filling out her botanical record.

Yellow Brick Games, an independent studio established by Dragon Age creator Mike Laidlaw and Ubisoft veterans back in November 2020, has officially announced Eternal Strands, its self-published single-player third-person fantasy action adventure game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. It will support English audio, and English and French text, with other languages to be announced. A release date was not announced.

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto Online players who are subscribed to the GTA+ subscription service will soon be eligible to receive an extra $1 million in-game monthly, from April through August. Grand Theft Auto Online already features a bunch of ways to make money, but this GTA+ perk will make things a little easier over the next few months.

Last week, Yellow Brick Games, co-founded by the former creative director of the Dragon Age franchise Mike Laidlaw, released a teaser for an upcoming fantasy title. The third-person action-adventure fantasy has been dubbed Eternal Strands and will be released for PC and modern consoles sometime in 2025.
