WWE 2K24 Blurs Out Some Vince McMahon Footage, but Not All of It

Fans have rediscovered a 9-year-old article published on the official WWE website back in 2015 that had Cody Rhodes on the list of potential superstars who would one day be the «next John Cena.» Cody Rhodes is currently one of the biggest stars in WWE, with such incredible fan support that the audience rejected a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock and willed Rhodes' WrestleMania rematch with Reigns back into existence.

Former WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon remains embroiled in a sexual misconduct lawsuit alleged by former employee Janel Grant. As a result, 2K has decided to partially censor McMahon's face in WWE 2K24, in archival footage featured in the game's Wrestlemania Showcase mode. While McMahon denies Grant's allegations, which include sexual assault and trafficking her to secure wrestling talent, he resigned from WWE as CEO the day after the federal lawsuit was filed.

WWE 2K24 has implemented a hotfix that solved a frustrating issue affecting many Steam users who pre-ordered the game. Additionally, WWE 2K24 just received one of its first updates after releasing on March 8.

WWE 2K24 has just released a new update, making several quality-of-life improvements. Visual Concepts’ last couple of WWE video games have been constantly praised for their refined in-ring action, and WWE 2K24 is continuing this with good reviews so far. Fans who pre-ordered one of the game’s digital deluxe editions could jump into WWE 2K24 a few days ahead of its March 8 release, and now everyone can tag in and see for themselves how this year’s iteration builds on what worked in the past few entries.

WWE 2K24 has partially censored Vince McMahon in its 40 Years of WrestleMania 2K Showcase Mode in the wake of the former chairman’s recent controversies. Earlier this year, ex-WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing McMahon of sexually assaulting and trafficking her. WWE and parent company TKO have since distanced themselves from him, with McMahon stepping down from his position as executive chairman of the company and WWE no longer acknowledging him on its on-air programming.

Announced just before the 2024 Royal Rumble, arrives in plenty of time for Wrestlemania XL.

With WWE 2K24 around the corner and the full roster list revealed, wrestling fans were worried that the Voice of the Voiceless, CM Punk, would miss out on this year’s instalment of the game. After all, Punk made a shocking return to WWE at the 2023 Survivor Series, so it would have been a modern miracle for the development team at Visual Concepts to somehow include him in time for the base game’s release on March 8.

Visual Concepts has released a new trailer for WWE 2K24, promoting the new storylines in MyRISE mode. It’s where players can take their custom male or female Superstars and embark on their own stories, and it seems this year has some rather unique twists. Check it out below.
