World of Warcraft recently hotfixed the Hearthstone crossover event so Whizbang spawns the boss NPCs in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Valdrakken simultaneously every hour. This should make farming the World of Warcraft event much easier than it was on the first day.
Hearthstone is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a collaboration event in World of Warcraft. From now through March 18, players can challenge others in a Hearthstone-inspired minigame while they wait for the gnomish toymaker, Whizbang, to summon bosses inspired by iconic Hearthstone cards for an hourly chance to earn exclusive cosmetics and collectibles.
Now, World of Warcraft has applied a hotfix that should make farming Whizbang’s bosses a lot easier. Previously, Whizbang would appear in one of three locations: outside Orgrimmar near the zeppelin, by the Stormwind docks, or on a tower near the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken, cycling between the three every hour. According to a forum post by WoW community manager Kaivax, Whizbang will now appear at all three of these locations simultaneously every hour, rather than just one of them.
While this change may seem small, it should have a huge impact. Previously, fans had no reliable way of knowing where Whizbang would appear beyond other players, and they had to travel to the opposite factions’ capital or log on to an alt to participate in some instances. Additionally, converging every character into a single location caused immense lag, leading the World of Warcraft event to cause server crashes, resets, and fans not getting credit for the kill. Spreading players across all three locations will hopefully alleviate this problem.
That said, players still aren’t happy with the Hearthstone crossover. The event itself copies many of the least-popular parts of World of Warcraft’s Greedy Emissary collaboration for Diablo 4. With little besides a repetitive hourly boss fight and a confusing minigame with no directions on how to play, many fans have been left disappointed by the Hearthstone crossover event.
Though the crossover itself may be uninspired, the rewards World of Warcraft players can get for Hearthstone’s anniversary are far from it. Lucky fans can get a disc mount, two unique toys, a Sarge pet, stylish transmog items, or even a 36-slot bag from Whizbang's card bosses. Players who log into Hearthstone once before May 14 get the guaranteed Fiery Hearthsteed mount, so fans should make sure to do so, even if they don’t normally play the digital card game.
