World of Warcraft fans just discovered a secret Plunderstorm achievement called Plunderkind that requires them to gather 1,000,000 Plunder. This hidden Feat of Strength offers no tangible rewards, and is incredibly hard to obtain, but some World of Warcraft players are already shooting for the bragging rites it offers.
Plunderstorm is a new limited-time battle royale game mode in World of Warcraft that features a unique and independent progression and combat system. In each game, players scour the Arathi Highlands for Plunder while battling others in the hope of being the last pirate standing.
However, some World of Warcraft players have found a secret achievement associated with Plunderstorm. Discovered by Wowhead, earning the Plunderkind achievement requires fans to obtain a staggering 1,000,000 Plunder in the battle royale game mode. The achievement is a Feat of Strength, so it doesn’t grant a reward and isn’t counted towards achievement points, giving the player nothing but bragging rights for getting it.
The rewards system in Plunderstorm is tied to one’s Renown reputation, which is raised by earning Plunder. There are 40 Renown levels in the Keg Leg’s Crew Renown track, each requiring 2,500 Plunder to reach. This means fans will earn every reward in Plunderstorm after 100,000 Plunder – a tenth of what it would take to earn this Feat of Strength. With a good game of Plunderstorm awarding somewhere around 1,000 and 1,500 Plunder after WoW's recent improvements to the game mode, players would need to play an average of around 700 matches to earn Plunderkind.
Needless to say, most fans laughed at the idea of unlocking this achievement. Many are already daunted by the idea of obtaining the 100,000 Plunder World of Warcraft players need to earn every reward in Plunderstorm, let alone ten times as much. However, dedicated fans had already hit Renown 40 within days of the mode dropping, so some are already shooting for this Feat of Strength. Assuming they keep up the momentum, these diehard Plunderstorm fans might hit the one million mark before the limited-time event goes away.
There is actually another Feat of Strength associated with Plunderstorm as well. Called Plunder Wonder, this achievement is awarded to players who win a match of the battle royale. There is no reward for this achievement either, but fans who win first place in a World of Warcraft Plunderstorm game get to wear a special tabard and eyepatch during their next Plunderstorm match. Beating 59 other players to earn this achievement is not easy, but farming a million Plunder is definitely an even harder milestone to reach.
