Final Fantasy 14 just revealed the Final Fantasy 16 crossover event will begin on April 2, and will be available until May 8. Players will have just over a month to experience the collaboration event in Final Fantasy 14, and score some exclusive collectible items in the process.
During the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival in London, the critically-acclaimed MMORPG revealed it would be doing a crossover event with Final Fantasy 16called The Path Infernal. The collaboration’s existence did not come as a huge surprise, considering both games share many developers including director and producer by Naoki Yoshida, but fans were excited about the event nonetheless.
Now, the wait for the Final Fantasy 16 event in FF14 is almost over. During the Final Fantasy 14 panel at PAX East, Yoshida revealed that The Path Infernal will run from April 2 through May 8, meaning players will have just over a month to participate in the event and earn its rewards. Final Fantasy 14 also launched a special landing site, which details the crossover between the two games, including their rewards, in even more detail.
By completing the event, players can obtain the Metian outfit, inspired by the costume worn by Final Fantasy 16 protagonist Clive Rosfield, plus a mount and minion based on Torgal, his trusty wolf companion. Additionally, fans can earn a Clive Triple Triad card, as well as Orchestrion Rolls featuring 10 songs from the game’s award-winning soundtrack. Like the Final Fantasy 15 event in FF14, there is a good chance some of these rewards will cost MGP, so players should head to the Gold Saucer and start earning now to make sure they can get everything.
In order to pick up the A Land of Fire quest to begin this collaboration event, fans must be level 50, and complete the Main Scenario for A Realm Reborn. New players will have to power through this epic tale before the event ends – or else purchase a story skip item from the Final Fantasy 14 cash shop.
Beyond the Final Fantasy 16 event, FF14 also revealed a July 2 release date for the Dawntrail expansion, with early access beginning on June 28. Were that not enough, Final Fantasy 16 is releasing The Rising Tide on April 18, and the RPG itself is expected to get a PC release before long. Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise have plenty of things to look forward to soon.
