The upcoming World of Warcraft expansion is introducing an inventory bag with an attribute bonus, opening up the possibility that future bags will offer different buffs and special effects to player characters when equipped. While World of Warcraft has enjoyed newfound popularity with its Season of Discovery on the Classic servers, the Retail version of the game is at a major crossroads. With Dragonflight coming to a close, the Worldsoul Saga is expected to commence with the launch of The War Within before the end of 2024.
Many evergreen features are expected to arrive in The War Within, the most exciting of which appears to be the Warband system. Warbands will finally unify World of Warcraft characters, regardless of faction or realm, on a player's account, allowing them to enjoy shared progression of features such as new reputations and Renown tracks. It will also have a shared bank for players to easily transfer items across their alts, further supported by the inclusion of numerous Warband-bound items.
One such item appears to be the Arathor Courier's Satchel, a new type of inventory bag that comes with 32 slots, but also a special effect when equipped. Namely, it will increase movement speed by 3% when roaming outdoors in Khaz Algar. Khaz Algar is the new continent introduced in The War Within, and will feature four World of Warcraft zones at launch. The new inventory bag was datamined by Wowhead, and reported by several players across social media.
Curiously, the bag appears to be Unique-Equipped, meaning that World of Warcraft players won't be able to stack its movement speed bonus – at least, not initially. It's quite possible that the Arathor Courier's Satchel is meant to test out the viability of adding similar bags in the future. While bags in World of Warcraft are unlikely to ever have important stat bonuses like Critical Strike Chance, having non-combat buffs such as increased food duration or reputation gain could help Tailoring gain a new niche as a World of Warcraft profession.
Though it may be some time until World of Warcraft players can obtain the Arathor Courier's Satchel and enjoy its nifty bonus, they won't have to wait too long. The final Dragonflight patch launched on May 7, and has introduced the prologue chapter for The War Within, bringing character favorites such as Khadgar and Alleria back into the spotlight. While the exact release date for The War Within remains unknown, many fans believe that Blizzard is aiming for a launch of the new World of Warcraft expansion in August 2024.

Fallout fans have widely praised the television show on Amazon Prime, and one Fallout 4 player in particular has chosen to recreate Norm MacLean as the Sole Survivor. Though the show sparked some initial controversy in the Fallout community due to a misunderstanding about how it fits into the timeline after Fallout: New Vegas, it has ultimately been embraced by a majority of fans – and perhaps most importantly – it brought a lot of new players to Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and even the older titles.
Gotta go fast? Speed fiends might be interested to discover that there's a new bag in The War Within Alpha that increases movement speed in outdoor areas of Khaz Algar! While increasing outdoor movement speed in a specific area of the expansion isn't a particularly important bonus, Arathor Courier's Satchel stands out as the first of its kind — no other bag in WoW has had this kind of statistical effect, and it could be a test case for more varied bag bonuses going forward. Although it is unlikely that we'll see universal combat enhancements like increased strength, critical strike chance, or damage procs, there are a number of other minor supplementary effects or effects that only work in specific areas of the game, like an excavators satchel increasing capabilities in Delves.
There are several cats in World of Warcraft: The War Within that characters can pick up and hold. While World of Warcraft has let players pet cats and other creatures before, this is the first time their characters can actually lift them in the game’s history.
